A few months from now, this weird week will be just a slightly painful memory (though we're hoping Metro et. al. learns a few things to apply to next year's snow). The soundtrack to our memory's playback of the week will be comprised of Adele, Raphael Saadiq, and Kanye West. What about you? What will you always connect to your memories of this week? A particular track? A certain drink? One snowy, lonely bus stop? If you're one of Greyhound's unlucky passengers, maybe one specific shelter downtown? (Don't hurt us...)

Get your name on the official list for Experience Music Project's 2008 Pop Conference, taking place in our very own Hendrix-drenched, spring-obsessed city from April 10–13. That's next weekend! This year's theme is "Shake, Rattle: Music, Conflict, and Change," and EMP has gathered over 160 writers, speakers and musicians to expound on the many facets of the subject. (The conference is completely, gloriously free.)

The past few months have seen Mr. “Wes C. Addle”—Eddie Vedder—looking more like Mr. Tinseltown than just another (incredibly talented) Easy Street customer. Times don’t look like they’ll be a-changin’ in 2008.

Seattlest arrived on scene soon after the Capitol Hill Block Party had opened. We wandered, checked out the stage locations and thought about getting a beer, then spotted a booth touting free bottled water. It looked like the booth had something to do with praying to the Earth Spirits or some other new wave white hippy crap, but we decided to take our chances. We asked for a water and oddly enough their were no questions asked of Seattlest, no "Is your spirit at peace with the world?" or "Do you ever cry for Mother Nature?" We did, however, get thoroughly eye-fucked by our water purveyor. We told him thank you, took a mental bath and off we went to hear some music. (And before you reactionaries out there start accusing us of homophobia, get over yourselves. We're not talking about getting "checked out." We're talking about a look that said, Right now, in my mind, I'm eating spaghetti off of your chest.)

Let's take a look back at a week that raised this Zen koan: if Kevin Federline got into a wrestling ring with a wrestler, who would you root for?

Jose Gonzalez - Seattlest managed to find entry into the KEXP's live broadcast area featuring Bumbershoot artists. Jose Gonzalez's set was absolutely perfect, the smaller crowd (~30 people) and intimate staging perfect for his one man, one guitar formula. It was funny to watch some of the ladies get swoony over him, and we have to admit we were getting pretty starry eyed ourselves.

What a great way to close out the summer: Beer, fried food on stick, irritatingly large crowds, great music, and a slight chance of rain (remember last year?). Seattlest loves us some Bumbershoot though, and we wouldn't let some pesky weather ruin our fun. This year looks to be a good one. A couple things we are digging right off the bat are the addition of good bands on the outdoor stages and ditching the Friday festivities before the weekend (we never went on that day anyway).

Last night Seattlest was at the second of the UW's Allen Edwards Psychology Lectures, as promised. (The series will air later on UWTV and TVW.) Speaker Judith Auerbach, the evening's "prominent Ph.D." from amfAR, began with a disclaimer that the talk represented her personal views and not those of her employers, past or present, so we perked up at that.

Kanye West, we hear, is one hot rapper hiphop artist. And he samples Ray Charles' "I Got a Woman" on his single "Gold Digger." Thus, in an attempt to appeal to the kids, we will sample the late great Ray on this post.

Apparently, there is something out there called 'nature.' It has trees and birds and such things. We are a little scared of it. If you, on the other hand, are more intrepid than we are and you also happen to enjoy the indie rock, head over to the Gorge Amphitheater tomorrow to see the Sasquatch Music Festival. As you most likely know, the lineup features the Pixies, Wilco, Modest Mouse, Kanye West, the Dears, Arcade Fire, the Bloc Party and more. The lineup is awesome, but we are a little biased towards ceilings, walls and climate control, but that's just us.

To all you aspiring hip-hop MC's out there. Advertising Age and the Daily News are reporting that McDonald's is offering between one and five dollars everytime a song that plugs their signature sandwich is played on the radio.
