Roll up with a Ball of Wax for some old-time music that feels wonderfully present, say goodbye to royalty, and finally get yourself some culture (and some dinner) via Town Hall.
Can't Miss It: The Weekend
Can't Miss It: Thursday
LISTEN AND LOVE: Noise for the Needy continues into its second evening with 16 bands playing four Ballard venues. As part of this year’s four-day festival, over 80 bands are helping raise money for a variety of charities, including Red Cross Family Relief for King and Kitsap Counties, Roots Youth Shelter, Urban Rest Stop, and others. The place to be tonight is Tractor Tavern for Portland folk/acoustic outfit Horse Feathers, our beloved Tiny Vipers, Friday Mile, and Goldfinch. None of these catch your fancy? Check out the list of other performances.
Get Out Thursday: Josh Roman Does Radiohead, Among Other Things
Joshua Roman, for those of you more concerned with what's going on at Neumo's than what's happening in Benaroya Hall, is the star cellist in Seattle Symphony. He's also 23, has hair like a young Bob Dylan, and seriously kicks ass.
Seattlest Yaks with Cello Prodigy Joshua Roman
Last year, at 22, cellist Joshua Roman became the youngest principal player in Seattle Symphony history. What did you accomplish when you were 22? Yeah, we thought so.
