Saturday we were at Smith with friend Wade just before heading down to the Triple Door to hear Jesse Sykes and the Sweet Hereafter [MySpace], and we were saying that while we liked the band we didn't get the goosebumps some people do and were curious to hear her live to see if maybe that would give us religion. It was warm and humid and the rain was coming down harder, and we finished up the sweet potato fries and went to go see what would happen.

What better way to kick off Pride Weekend than with a parable about the gay recruitment agenda -- incidentally we hear David Bowie modeled his Goblin King performance after Johnny Depp -- and another one another one about Republican oilmen clashing with Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon?

Remember when Juliette Lewis used to be cool? She was one of the high points of the questionable Natural Born Killers. Just previous to that she starred across from Johnny Depp in the Gilbert Grape thing which was only a few years after Cape Fear. Have we mentioned From Dusk Till Dawn? Granted those aren't exactly indie movies, but she's always managed an indie aura even when operating under the most obscene of budgets. Armpit hair will do that for ya.
