SurveyUSA, who also conducted a poll of Washington State voters after the first Presidential debate, just released their results from last night's Vice Presidential debate: Immediately following last night’s debate between Republican Sarah Palin and Democrat Joe Biden, SurveyUSA interviewed 1,100 state of Washington adults, of whom 806 watched the debate. Of debate watchers: 42% say Palin was the clear winner. 39% say Biden was the clear winner. 18% say there was no clear......

">Throughout the campaign we have been gathering the top political writers in the country, and asking them to discuss the presidential race. Today they discuss the Republican ticket and look at tonight's vice-presidential debate. Seattlest: You’ve all spent time with the McCain campaign since the convention, what are your thoughts on the Republican ticket? Ryan (The Washington Post): My thoughts are irrelevant. Only The Lord Jesus Christ matters. And Obama is a Muslim. Case closed.......

YOU BETCHA: As far as Seattlest is concerned, there really is nothing worth doing tonight aside from watching the Sarah Palin show. Will she deliver endless bullshit answers full of noun phrases that seem to have nothing to do with one another? Will she address that "Putin flying over Alaska gives me foreign policy cred" absurdity? Will Joe Biden totally slaughter her, or will he make some "woops" remark that actually makes her come out......

Seth Kolloen, Seattlest editor emeritus and current editor of Sports Northwest magazine, has found a local sports stand-in for Obama's VP. We were laughing through our tears as we read it.To put it in baseball terms, Obama’s got a three-run lead, going into the seventh inning. And who’s coming out of the bullpen for tomorrow night’s debate? Joe Biden, the Bobby Ayala of American presidential politics. Joe Biden, who sunk his 1988 presidential campaign by......

Though the political news of the day is most certainly McCain's ploy to "suspend" his campaign and delay the first presidential debate as well as the VP debate in order to concentrate on the economic crisis, there's other news out today about the plight of Republican candidates this year. According to the New York Times, Washington State Democrats are suing to force Republican candidate for governor Dino Rossi to list his party affiliation on the......

We're going to drop some locals-only wisdom on you, which Seattle natives rarely if ever do sober...so listen up. Like every big city, Seattle has some of its own slang that is particular to the city. For example, the UW is pronounced by anyone in the know as U-Dub. (You can thank Singles for letting that secret out of the bag.) Well, if you want to say someone f'd something up big time or......

According to a King5-commissioned poll, Barack Obama's lead in Washington is diminishing. Obama's lead has dropped from double digits in June to only four percentage points in the most recent poll. If the election was held today, 49% of Washingtonians would vote for Barack Obama and 45% would cast their vote for John McCain. Despite all the tabloid rumors (and truths) about McCain's choice of Sarah Palin for Vice President, the announcement increased voter......

According to an email we got from the Washington State Democrats today, the state's Attorney General, Rob McKenna, laid out a plan for Dino Rossi to beat Christine Gregoire in November for state delegates at the Republican National Convention in Minnesota. In short, according to McKenna, McCain-Palin needs to carry Washington by 10-12 points. "If he fails to carry it by ten or twelve points, Dino doesn't win." Maybe it's scary thoughts like that which......

Did you get a text message? Because we signed up for the damned text, and got nothing. Thank God for our internet addiction, though, because we got it from CNN.com as soon as we got home from being out. Obama chose Biden. We can all exhale. McCain's statment was: "There has been no harsher critic of Barack Obama's lack of experience than Joe Biden." And now back to local news.........

Are you guys watching this race? Incredible! Super Tuesday has officially come and gone, delegates divided, $250 million in campaign money spent, and still no Democratic frontrunner in sight. We at Seattlest are beside ourselves and while we may never understand the logic behind superdelegates we do know this: Washington is going to have a big say in how this race is decided. This Saturday, Washingtonians will caucus with 80 Democratic delegates up for......

Current assistant coach, original player, and Stephen Tobolowsky look-alike Bob Weiss has been offered the Sonics head coaching job, if the Tacoma News-Tribune is to be believed. Weiss was at the head of the bench in the late 80s and early 90s with the Spurs, Hawks, and Clippers, compiling a 210-282 record. The Sonics have employed Weiss as an assistant since 1994. In our view, after that long, anyone deserves a promotion. Unless it's Joe......
