Events are a little sparse with it being a holiday week and all -- but there are still a few options for you and yours. Have a lovely and festive holiday week!
This Week in Lit: Zhong Biao and that Damn Holiday Cheer
Why the Art Museum Is Rooting Against the Seahawks
SAM just can't wait to open its sculpture park. Over on the Slog, Jen Graves summarizes the kvetching about SAM's sculpture park's January 20th opening.
Like Ghost, But Much Hotter: Louis Slotin's Sonata
Life is funny. One night you go to a play about some guy who has 5 days to figure out a screenplay for Gone With The Wind, another night the play's about some guy who has 9 days to figure out why he has 9 days left to live. In the first case, you end up with a collection of deleted scenes from The Producers. In the second case, you start with a refresher course in the Manhattan Project, and then it's down the rabbit hole.
Bumbershoot Sans Music
Man, is there a LOT of Bumbershoot stuff on Seattlest right now. If you're anything like Editor Dan you're hoping for a break in the Bumber action; a contributor's recounting of a trip to Lake Chelan, a reaction to a dunderheaded Seattle Times editorial, or even some lame PR survey naming Seattle 16th Most Fashionable City West of the Rockies. Anything! Well, you can hope for something different, but your hopes will be dashed because this is another Bumbershoot post.
The Stranger On Chihuly
The Stranger's article on Dale Chihuly and his recent lawsuits is exactly what you think it is; Dale bashing at its finest. If you live in Seattle and you're even vaguely paying attention you know that Dale Chihuly hasn't touched an actual piece of glass in years and he's more of a pirate captain figurehead directing his little glass gnomes here and there. You can be forgiven for imagining him with a whip when he's standing over the laboring blowers. Jen Graves goes over all of that in her article, minus the whip.
