Day Without A Gay

Show of hands: who here is not at work because you called in "gay"? (That's kinda what we thought.) Today is Day Without A Gay, an awareness-raising event brainstormed by gay rights activists in L.A. to coincide with International Human Rights Day. Skipping work is a sacrifice (time is money) in and of itself, but organizers have also asked participants to spend their day volunteering for human rights organizations and to try to avoid making any purchases. Thus far, we've heard of two people in the entire city who are joining in the fun: one Starbucks barista and one former Project Runway star (Jack Mackenroth, of course).
