If you have not made it into Beveridge Place Pub in West Seattle for their Barleywine Bacchanal yet, it's not too late. Tonight, they will be tapping three different vintages of the Lagunitas Olde Gnarly Wine ('04, '06 & '07), which enables you to see exactly how this beer changes over time. At 9.7% alcohol, it shines after a few years. The contrast between the '04 and '07 should be very interesting. Stay away......

Does anyone remember when Full Sail Black Gold Bourbon Aged Imperial Stout came out in early 2006? That was the last Bourbon aged beer distributed by Full Sail, and wow...what a beer it was. It was a big stout with tons of flavors imparted by the barrel, and it remains one of our Top 10 Beers of All Time. Step forward to February 2008, and Full Sail is doing it all over again with......

This Seattlest had some family visiting this weekend and felt it was his duty to show them some of his favorite beer spots in town, even if they could probably care less. There were quite a few beers of note that were on tap and should still be around. We also found a few bottles of Lost Abbey Judgement Day at Esquin Wine this weekend. We didn't realize the Seattle market was getting this......

Besides the Big Wood Festival going on up at Brouwer's (which even exceeded expectations last night), this weekend marks the 3rd Annual Winter Beer Festival put on by the Washington Beer Commission. The Winter Beer Festival is held at Hale's and will feature over 30 different winter beers from Washington brewers. It can get a little packed, but it's a great time and last year was a solid lineup. This year keep your eyes......

Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy...with the recent trend of oak aging beer, we were pumped to hear about Brouwer's Big Wood Fest starting this Thursday at the Fremont bar. Brouwer's will clear their taps to have 40+ wood aged beers pouring this weekend. They won't discriminate; Belgian style sours, big, burly stouts and everything in-between will be lined up side-by-side. What is wood aged beer you ask? It is exactly what wine makers......

At most traditional Thanksgiving gatherings this week, the average person will be holding a wine glass when it comes time to wash down the turkey and trimmings. As we said last week, there is nothing wrong with that. But, before making the choice for wine, you should consider the argument for beer. Beer styles that would go well with turkey and the trimmings include Biere de garde, dunkel, dubbel, marzen and any good old......

What better time to talk about beer and food than with the holidays coming up? We enjoy wine with a good meal just as much as everyone else, but we hate the perception that beer should not be paired with anything except pizza. Unless you are still drinking that macro crap, you can enjoy beer with a wide variety of food. This Seattlest is currently reading "The Brewmaster's Table", written by Garrett Oliver, the......

It's so easy to keep going to the same places in Seattle over and over again. With the abundance of great places to grab a pint that we can get to from a bus ride and a quick walk, it's tough to hop in a car and go anywhere for a drink. But it is always great fun heading out to the breweries away from town to see what is going on. Snoqualmie Falls......

Dive bars are not supposed to have good beer, right? Well, this is not exactly a dive - but it is definitely a little unpolished compared to most good beer bars in the city. That is just fine with Seattlest. Duck Island is located just up Aurora on the north side of Greenlake, right next to Beth's Cafe and in the same 2 block strip as Kangaroo & Kiwi and Uber Tavern. The Beer:......

It is finally here! What is it? The Seattle International Beerfest (SIB). There will be over 100 different beers from breweries all over the world, and some great beers from our own backyard. You will have the opportunity to try samples of beer that is normally not even available in Seattle. Where and when is it? It is held at the Mural Amphitheater at Seattle Center Friday 4pm to 10pm Saturday Noon to 10pm......

Is working for beer really work at all? The Seattle International Beerfest (SIB) will take place again this year at Seattle Center from June 29 to July 1. You will have to act soon though if you would like to work as a volunteer and earn yourself some beer. You can earn up to 43 beer tickets by working shifts pouring beer to the masses. SIB has the best selection of Seattle's beer festivals.......

If you love stouts, like we do, you are going to want to hop in your car/get on the bus/ride your bike up to Uber Tavern in Greenlake for a taste of the 2003 Silver City Imperial Stout. First off, Uber Tavern is just an amazing beer bar. It has been around less than a year, but has a very strong following among locals and beer nerds. Get there early if you go on......

It's Free Espresso Week in Seattle or something. On 15th Ave East, you've got nightspot Liberty trying to lure daysippers with an offer of free espresso drinks all week long (ends Sunday). We refer you to the Slog for all the details, the one per day per customer, the Stumptown beans (Portland rabble!). Liberty has tried to open its daytime cafe doors before, but to our eye business was just dribbling in. Maybe the free......
