Laser Rocket Arms hates it when we call them "the new Husker Don't."

Eighteen teams played trivia on Mardi Gras, but none could match the juggernaut that is Husker Don't, who--like the Shah of Iran--returned to reclaim their throne after a short absence. And they missed only 7 of the 80 questions we asked, which is a little scary since we had to look them up beforehand.

It's the end of an era. Check out the standings list below and you'll see "Hüsker Don't," as you might expect -- but you'll see them in third place. Ever-renamed team State of the Onion played Nancy Zerg to HD's Ken Jennings, as did comeback kids Thaiku Hookers, who took second place.

Though they promised to be there, Husker Don't was not among the teams playing the pub quiz at the Old Pequliar last night. Once again, their absence was greeted with applause as a Winchell's dozen of other teams realized their chances to win the big bucks had just improved.

BURLESQUE: It's a rare Christmas present that unwraps itself. But Land of the Sweets: The Burlesque Nutcracker collects a bevy of Seattle's ecdysiast superstars in a retro-bawdy performance set to Duke Ellington's score for the holiday favorite. The eye candy includes Miss Indigo Blue, Kitten la Rue, Babette la Fave, Lily Verlaine, Jasper McAnn, Paula the Swedish Housewife, Wes Brockbank, and Waxie Moon. Merry XOXOmas.

Those hoping to win their way into some extra holiday shopping money must have pounded their heads against a table when they saw Husker Don't enter the Old Pequliar last night.

Before we get started, a question: the Old Pequliar wants to know if people are interested in a quiz on the day after Christmas. If you'd be likely to show up, or if you usually show up but wouldn't, let us know in the commments so we can report back.

Things we learned at trivia last night:

For those of you who couldn't make it to last night's trivia contest at the Old Pequliar, we're not going to sugarcoat it for you...you missed out. We had 18 teams (a new record), and a $180 pot (a new record) of which $120 went, predictably, to Husker Don't, the undefeated champions of Old Pequliar trivia. Can't anyone beat them? Could you?

We never claimed to be good at math.

Husker Don't won last night's Seattlest Trivia at the Old Pequliar in Ballard. They answered 54 questions correctly out of 80. It's their third consecutive win. Are they the smartest people in Seattle? Surely someone, somewhere can beat them.
