What are the men and women of road construction doing while you're stuck in traffic, or sleeping soundly in your white-collar bed? Oh, just this.

Get Out Tonight: Rodrigo Y Gabriela
We shouldn't have to say much more about Rodrigo y Gabriela aside from "flamenco version of 'Stairway to Heaven'," but we will. They're young, they're hot, they're Mexican-Irish, and they're extraordinary guitarists. They don't need no stinking genre, as they dabble in everything from flamenco to psychedelia to pop and jazz, pretty much defying musical definition. Plus, they can fly and spit fireworks, have x-ray vision, and can regenerate.

Flossin' on the 520
So Lexus has this car that can parallel park itself. Lazy bastards of the world, rejoice. And last night, while watching Heroes on Tivo (someone please, please name your band that), we saw an ad for a new Volvo that has a heartbeat sensor in it that alerts you via keychain if someone is in your car. (We can only imagine the corporate boardroom on that one: "OK people, we're falling behind in the 'Neurotic Single Woman' segment, someone come up with something that will sell some goddamn cars." Also a bonus for lazy, deadbeat moms who want to monitor their children when they leave them in the car to get a base tan at the local salon.)

The State Bought Your Prius
If you've been on the waiting list for a Toyota Prius hybrid for as long as popular mythology would have us believe, you'll be pissed off to know where your car is. The state of Washington bought it out from under you and plastered livery stickers all over it. In 2006 the state's agencies bought 222 Priuses (Priuii?) and 206 Ford Escape hybrids, making this year the first in which the state has purchased more hybrids than standard-fuel automobiles.
