With none of the excitement of the NCAA Tournament, and probably half of the NIT Tournament, the Huskies will open play in the first round of the inaugural CBI Tournament tonight at Hec Ed.

Strong defense and Justin Dentmon stepping up late in the second half gave the Huskies their fourth straight win against the Bruins in Hec-Ed, and Seattlest its second great sports moment of 2008.

Last night's Arcade Fire show was rife with problems. Not with the Arcade Fire, Lord knows they can do no wrong, but with the opening bands, and most of all, with the venue. Somehow, even though the scheduled time for the show was 7:30pm, the time published everywhere---on the Ticketmaster site, in ads for the show, in UW emails, on the goddamn tickets---doors actually opened at 6:30pm and the Gossip started playing right around 7. This would explain why no one was there for their set.

After years of active avoidance, Seattlest went to our first-ever Storm game Saturday night. And it was the best sporting event we've been to this year.

The funniest moment was when a ref blew his whistle to stop play and shouted, "My timeout, my timeout...I've got a wet spot."

As he stumbled and bumbled through last night's quiz one thing was certain, Seattlest David was having serious issues rocking the mic. He considers it a miracle that only one coaster was thrown at him.

Stanford coach Trent Johnson, not happy after Kenny Brown committed the ultimate bailout foul, hacking the Dawgs' Adrian Oliver as Oliver shot a desperation three with the shot clock at 1. Before we are forced to re-live 1947 and gather around the radio for Saturday night's Husky game, we thought it would fun to take one last look at last Saturday’s incredible win over UCLA. We were at the game yelling our head off durring the second half. Our friend wasn't, but sent us his thoughts throughout the game via text message.

The Husky athletic department is doing great work--they've figured out how to televise tomorrow's Husky/Arizona game. No, it won't be on TV, but if you go to Hec Ed they will be showing the Arizona stadium feed there, mixed in with the Husky radio broadcast.

Louisiana State University and Glen "Big Baby" Davis, who collectively made it to last year's Final Four, will play the Huskies at Hec Ed on December 20th. This is the big non-conference game the Huskies needed on their schedule to quiet the other big baby, Lute Olson.

Opportunistic, smothering defense keyed the Husky women's upset of #10 Stanford last night at Hec Ed. The Dawgs forced 24 Cardinal turnovers (committing only 10 themselves). Guards Emily Florence and Kristen O'Neill each had four steals, and took the Cardinal out of their game.

Pac-10 Coach of the Year Jim McLaughlin and Pac-10 Player of the Year Sonja Tomasevic will lead the Husky women's volleyball team this weekend in Fort Collins, Co., where the Dawgs start the NCAA tournament as the top seed in the West Regional.

After starting the season with four straight wins, the University of Washington men's basketball team snuck into the Associated Press Top 25, garnering one more point in the AP's voting/rankings system than Iowa State.

The Husky football team, helped by a Hail Mary touchdown pass to end the second half, became the first state school to win a Pac-10 game this season, beating Arizona 38-14. The Dawgs host the Apple Cup next Saturday.

There aren't too many things that both our four-year-old niece and her grandfather enjoy.

Michael Cage played for the Sonics in the late 80s and early 90s. He was a talented frontcourt rebounder and defender, but what Seattlest loved him for was his fierce commitment to passè hairstyles.

Over the weekend, the University of Washington men's basketball team advanced to the NCAA Tournament "Sweet 16" with a dominating win over Pacific. Their next game will be Thursday at 4:10 pm vs. Louisville in Albuquerque.
