Seattlest had a busy day yesterday, capped off by a dance party / sneak peak at the EMP's horrifically awesome new exhibit. Boo!
Can't Look Away: Horror, Film and the Fashionably Undead at EMP|SFM
Sasquatch Gallery: Sneak Peek Day 4
Whew! We made it home in one piece though sunburned, tired, sore, minus one water bottle and maybe a little hungry. Lily and Morgen were unbelievably happy to be there every second evidenced throughout the next week or two in galleries, a mini photo shoot, reviews and interviews. If you were there relive it with us and tell us your story. We're excited to hear how your fest went, it was sort of a blur for us despite the fact we kept sober the entire time (we swear!).
End the Week Right with City Arts Fest: Day Three
Let the madness continue! There's a fantastic set of events to whet your appetite at Friday's City Arts Lineup. If the shows we've previewed for Friday don't sound interesting, be sure to catch Head Like a Kite with Brent Amaker and the Rodeo. They are not to be missed and Head Like a Kite will most likely, as they usually do, have guest performers jump on stage with them. You never know who you're going to get, but it'll always be an amazing time. As if that weren't enough Brent Amaker is an amazing entertainer and singer. Add in the Rodeo and he'll have your booty shaking cowboy-style. Let us know where you've been and where you're going! So far we've had a blast, wednesday night's shows and looking forward to tonight's. Meanwhile Seattlest is running rampant through the rest of the fest, so check out these shows to end your week with a bang.
Can't Miss It: Weekend Edition, Nov. 21-23
MONSTER MASH: Everyone's favorite non-robotic, non-dinosar body of awesome, a.k.a. the ferocious, hard-banging electronica/hiphop group Truckasaurus, is playing at Neumos with Head Like A Kite and Slender Means on Saturday. Heads up--Truckasaurus might be a band and not a car-eating machine, but they can still metaphorically smash your face in with their thumping, crunching, stomping version of music. It's beautiful, too. Imagine that!
Capitol Hill Block Party in Brief, Les Savy Fav in Briefs
Head Like a Kite: By the time we got into Neumos, we'd unfortunately missed most of their set. Whatever they were playing when we walked in, it was awesome and everyone was into it. It wasn't long, however, before they went into show-closing mode with more ethereal, experimental jam stuff. We dig Head Like a Kite, but they also bore us sometimes.
Seattlest Picks for the Capitol Hill Block Party
Friday: Catch Common Market (4:30) and U.S.E. (5:30) at the main stage, then skip over to King Cobra for the second half of Truckasaurus (6:00). Take a dinner break (may we suggest eating something protein-heavy?), then get yerself to Neumo's for Thee Emergency at 7:45. After that, we suggest Das Llamas (it's their last set...THEIR LAST ONE!) at 9:45 at the Cha Cha. To round out the night, buy yourself a fancy rum drink at Havana and party until the wee hours with DJ Curtis.
