Kris Orlowski has wowed us time and again at his sold out Triple Door show with a full string section, at his Columbia City Theater cd release, returning to the Triple Door to open for James Vincent McMorrow and most recently at Bumbershoot's EMP 3rd floor stage. He's got a lot in store and here's your chance to get in on the ground floor and say 'I saw him way back when...'

Gallery: The Heart of Seattle Music Shone Bright Over the Weekend
It's pretty obvious by this point that I'm in love with The Head and the Heart (HATH). I've written about them at least half a dozen times, but that's only because I know a lot of you out there love them, too (and I adore sharing the love for such a great group).
Seattlest Suggests: Tonight is Chockful of Music
Have you noticed that they aren't making it easy on us anymore here in Seattle? There are entirely too many insanely good bands hitting the bars and venue stages lately. The problem is, they make us decide which great show to go to and you're left wondering "did I make the right decision?" Well, tonight is no exception. There are three incredible shows, so you have no excuse to sit home in your jammies eating icecream. Get out there and shake your booty!
"Seattle's Next Big Band" Grand Hallway at the Triple Door Tonight
By our (highly unscientific but we argue still valid) assessment, Grand Hallway is the local group whose press writeups by area music writers are most likely to contain the words "brilliant," "genius" or "masterpiece."
Ben Gibbard Gives Back to the Kids Tonight

Speaking of Teen Feed, tonight they'll be the beneficiary of an amazing musical performance. While highly anticipated by Death Cab for Cutie, solo Ben Gibbard, and Postal Service fans alike, the solo Gibbard show at the Crocodile wasn't publicized much. Really, they didn't need it since it was sold out long ago to many music lovers' chagrin (or delight depending on if you were lucky enough to snag a ticket). Gibbard has a bit of a personal stake in the project as well since his sister is the Executive Director. You can learn more about Teen Feed and the possibility of future shows like this one in the 3 imaginary girls interview with Megan Gibbard. I think despite his sister's involvement Ben, along with a majority of Seattle-based musicians, are willing and ready to help out locally. It's exciting to know that so many people with influence are so dedicated to our fair city and its inhabitants. It makes us feel all warm and fuzzy inside to be Seattlites.

Catch a Solo Sea Wolf Set at the Tractor Tonight
When we last talked to Alex Brown Church while he was in town earlier this year with his band Sea Wolf he told us he was genuinely most excited about touring during the year ahead. Over half a year later, Church and fans alike will be pleased as the lead Wolf himself will be bringing Sea Wolf material out on the road, this time as a solo show.

DICK DALE: 72 years old and still going strong, Dick Dale continues to ride the wave that made him a star. Arguable inventor of the classic surf sound, Dale was also a collaborator with Leo Fender, pushing guitar amps out of their clean and quiet beginnings up into 11. He is justifiably a legend. A very loud legend.
Neighborhood News and Local Round-Up
- First we thought it was just Capitol Hill's little old men that were accident-prone. Now we hear about another elderly 81-year-old man who is suffering life-threatening injuries after being hit by a delivery truck this morning in the International District.
- Yesterday, U.S. Soccer announced Seattle's Qwest Field and Husky Stadium as the venues under consideration as part of their bid to host the World Cup in 2018 or 2022.

BEST LOCAL SHOW EVER: Okay, maybe that's too strong a statement. There are people who would argue otherwise, but Seattlest is pretty thrilled with all the bands on the bill tonight at the Tractor. It's a big ol' acousti-pop night in Ballard with Grand Hallway, Kate Tucker, Odessa Chen, and Husbands Love Your Wives. Yeah, we know. Hot action. Maybe it's not as killer as a Pearl Jam-Dave Matthews-Death Cab-Heart show would be, but it's definitely the best in local music tonight.
