Cops and prosecutors believe they have enough dirt on more than a dozen Central Area drug dealers to send them to jail. But they're not going to prosecute--not yet--under a new community policing tactic that offers drug dealers amnesty for their crimes if they enter job training programs. more ›

While Seattle's Garfield High School Jazz Band did score a stirring victory in the national Essentially Ellington jazz competition earlier this month they were not so lucky on the basketball court. But they do have a pretty cool story to impress next fall's dormmates with: They played basketball against Wynton Marsalis. more ›

One of Garfield's star basketball players, Tony Wroten Jr., was "terminated" (we're assuming that means he was pulled out of school rather than murdered in cold blood) by the Seattle School District this week when they ruled that he doesn't live within district boundaries. The Wrotens have hired a lawyer, and the athlete's father told King 5 that school officials didn't do their homework. His words: "For them to say they've come by here six or seven times and say the car is not here….they never knocked on the door, they never came in, they never talked to our landlord who works in the Seattle School District." Sucks to be Tony Wroten Jr. right now. As an aside, happy finals week to all the students in the land. more ›

If this announcement had come on April Fool's Day, we'd have thought they went a little overboard with the prank. A Broadway musical about the life of Bruce Lee and his journey to martial arts and movie stardom? Apparently so. Today, Elephant Eye Theatrical announced their latest musical Bruce Lee: Journey to the West, which is scheduled to debut sometime during the 2010-11 season. more ›

Unlike our beloved baseball All Star Game, we’ve tended to skip the NBA's version in recent years. However, with our hero Brandon Roy, in Sunday's game we can’t wait to watch our fellow ex-Bulldog cram some FANtastic™ action down the East’s face. However, we’ll be in Vancouver--sorry TNT. more ›

Well, it happened. In a 7-2 vote that was never extended to the public, the King County Council agreed to spending at least $500,000 to change our logo from a crown to the likeness of Martin Luther King Jr. And to add to the surreal ludicrousness of this move, Ron Sims is designing the new logo. The jesters are now running the castle, Seattle. more ›
