Fecal Fest Drops Next Month at Woodland Park Zoo
The Annual Fall Fecal Fest will be up and running September 1-19 at the Woodland Park Zoo. Apparently, this is the time of year when gardeners, farmers, and "Zoo Doo" loyalists scramble to get their hands on some prized, limited quantities of ... animal poo.
How Does Your Garden Grow?
We're finally coming into the gardening season, and most of us who live in the city have limited space and resources for planting a garden. Sometimes it seems as if even having some sort of a porch, or a stoop to read a book on is a faraway dream--let alone a yard.

Later this week, the Woodland Park Zoo kicks off their annual Fall Fecal Fest, during which you can procure (or enter to win) Zoo Doo, a delightful "blend of animal manures [elephants, hippos, zebras, giraffes, gazelles, oryx, ponies, and others] mixed with straw bedding, grass, leaves, and wood chips" from the zoo grounds. Apparently this shit's good for composting, fertilizing, and mulching. For more info on prices and pick up, call the (ugh) poop line at 206-625-POOP.

CINCO DE MAYO: We may not have a ton of great tacquerias in town, but our local Mexican joints do a fine job with their margaritas. Our favorite is out in Ballard—La Carta de Oaxaca. Also worthy are Jalisco's various locations and, of course, Mama's Mexican Kitchen in Belltown. Or take it one step further and head to Tacos Guaymas in Greenlake to catch Pedrito Vargas y su Grupo Ashe.
