Since his car was stolen, Eric Schoenlerber had been taking the bus to get around. This morning while riding the bus to work, he spotted a very familiar car in a 7-11 parking lot--his car. Schoenlerber got off the bus and called police, who responded to the location on lower Queen Anne.

Fremont Bridge Closed Nights This Week
Thursday, November 15 at 9 p.m. to Friday, November 16 at 6a.m.For those of you on foot or otherwise transportable, here's the non-specific but relevant info in that case:
SDOT’s contractor will provide a shuttle service for pedestrians and bicyclists from 9 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. between the north and south ends of the bridge (from roughly North 34th Street and Fremont Avenue North to roughly Nickerson and Fourth Avenue North) making the loop approximately every 20 to 30 minutes. Signs will be placed noting the pick up and drop off locations. Buses will be rerouted during these closures. As the date approaches, see Metro Online at http://transit.metrokc.gov or call Rider Information, 553-3000.Of course, since Fremont is largely filled these days with scruffy-faced UW students trying to get bartenders to think they're cool and exfoliated, salt-and-pepper-haired Adobe guys trying to make conversation with the hot lesbian couple, you might just as well skip it.
Ceci n'est pas un Croque
Magritte references aside, can we catch a break in the 2500 block of Fourth Avenue, please? (See previous post about a sidewalk sale across the street.) Early in our Seattlest career, we opined that Boulangerie Nantaise bakes Seattle's best-tasting baguettes. Still true. But it turns out they don't know squat about sandwiches, whether it's how to spell 'em or how to make 'em. Shoulda gone online, where they've at least posted a picture of a toasted ham-&-cheese panino. Had we but known, had we but known.
Pizza Parkway
Garlic Gulch, that's what Belltown's Fourth Avenue has turned into, between downtown and Denny Way. At the north end, the venerable Zeek's appears to take intergalactic orders for traditional, predictable, topping-heavy slices. Bambino, a block away on Cedar, styles itself as "East Coast Pizza," whatever that means (thin crust, light toppings, one assumes). Given the flap over Domino's so-called Brooklyn-Style Pizza, probably not a great idea. Ordered a Tropicale (east-coast-speak for Hawaiian); despite 575-degree, wood-fired oven, pizza was limp, soggy; application of freshly-grated Parmesan no help.
Did his bus transfer work on the ambulance?
Could've been the groaning, could've been the bleeding--the article doesn't say.
Not All Who Wander Are Lost, But It's a Smart Way to Bet in the Downtown Library
Seattlest thinks the Seattle Central Library is gorgeous. But in every conversation we've had about the building, someone always points out the elephant in the room: it's a bitch finding your way around.
Full Waterfrontal Exposure
Tonight there's an Open House for the City of Seattle's Draft Waterfront Concept Plan, 5:30 to 7:30pm (with a brief presentation at 6:00pm), in the Bertha Landes Room, Seattle City Hall, 600 Fourth Avenue. Everybody holla!
Lone Star City
You may not have noticed the change downtown this week, but the air might taste just a tad more country. One of our skyscrapers just got bought by Texas. Ok, not by Texas, actually, but by Houston-based developer, Hines.
Play Hooky With Us
This year the first day of the NCAA tournament occurs on St. Patrick's Day, so if there was ever a time to watch the games in a bar, this is it. Unfortunately, neither the Notre Dame Fighting Irish nor the Tulane Green Wave made the tourney. But our hometown Huskies did. In fact, they are one of the favorites. Their first-round game is today at noon. The tournament's first games begin at 9 am, and several local bars are opening early to accomodate basketball and liquor fans:
