You've got just one week to register for the World Affairs Council's second annual Transnational Trivia Championship. Brainiacs from around Seattle will gather and compete at 7pm on Friday, October 10, at the Seattle Center Fisher Pavilion.

In Break with Tradition, Seattle Declares Bastille Day the 15th of July
Jesus, this is embarrassing. Bastille Day celebrates the liberation of a particularly pungent batch of cheese from the dungeons of the old prison in 1789 (along with seven prisoners) on the 14th of July (le Quatorze). Except here -- where as usual we're a day late and a euro short -- the Seattle Bastille Day festivities are being held on Sunday the 15th at the Seattle Center. What fun is that? The ideal would be to get loaded to the gills on Saturday and roll out for a late, late brunch on Sunday.
Beer, Dads & the Outdoors: Back Together Again
Seattle beer enthusiasts who sulkily attended last year’s lame, cramped Washington Brewers’ Festival at Fisher Pavilion have reason to rejoice: The former Summer Microbrew Festival returns to St. Edward State Park this Father’s Day weekend.
Get Out
Sports: Depending on your particular personality profile, Monday Night Football is either something hideous to run away from as fast as you can through the snow-clogged streets or something to celebrate with giant fleece Seahawks blankets and flasks disguised as binoculars. Or you're from Wisconsin and you're celebrating and running away at the same time. Tickets for tonight's game can be had by rolling the dice outside the stadium just before kickoff or by getting down with Craigslist, but you might be better off cozying up to your favorite neighborhood bar for the game.
It's Bastille Day In France But Seattle Is Taking A Wait-And-See Approach
We're serving Bastille Day cold, apparently, this Sunday at Seattle Center. In Paris, a brigade of activist clowns is parading after the usual militaristic tomtommery. No word on whether there will headbutting.
The Week's Picks...
Another week of Seattlest making all your plans for you. You don’t even have to think! Joy!
Washington Brew Fest
Seattlest feels the need to drown our sorrows, thanks in large part to the Dawgs' loss yesterday. Lucky for us the 3rd Annual Hops on Equinox - Spring Beer Festival is taking place today and tomorrow at he Fisher Pavilion on the Seattle Center campus (We'll excuse the fact that the Equinox actually took place five days ago). If you're a fan of the Fremont Oktoberfest, then you'll enjoy this event as well, as it's set up by the same folks.
