Seattlest works near the old Snowboard Connection building on Western and we walk past there to get to just about everything. Still, it took us a while to notice that Snowboard Connection had closed, but when we did figure it out we suddenly started feeling a little sad for every skater we saw headed in that direction. Coming down from Shoreline or wherever, big bus trip into the city to the mecca of Snowboard Connection, and then you show up on the doorstep and the place has a big closed sign on it. Across the street from REI? How the hell do you get over there?
Snowboard Connection Can't Stay Gone
2 Days, 2 Bumbershoot Posts
Maybe we failed to give credit where credit was due yesterday in the Bumpershoots post. Some of the best stuff at the festival tends to not be music (notably the 826 thing from last year) and they have a lot of cool sounding events listed on their website that aren't music, but definitely are worthy of a mention.
CHAW on This
Tonight, Capitol Hill officially joins the club, with their first (ever?) Capitol Hill Art Walk at 7-9pm. The CHAW, as people who enjoy smokeless tobacco like to say, will be a monthly First Thursday event, just like the ones in Pioneer Square and Downtown.
This Art Was Made for Walking
Seattlest has been known to enjoy many great First Thursdays, but we've always secretly asked ourselves why Pioneer Square should have all the fun. It looks like we weren't the only ones, given the recent explosion of new walks all over the city.
