If you're not, you better get ready. Michelle Obama, the future First Lady of the United States, will be joining Washington Governor Christine Gregoire onstage for a fundraising event in July. Somehow this fundraising event is free—seems like flawed logic to us—and open to the public. It will take place on July 17th at WaMu Theatre at Qwest Field from noon to 3 p.m.

This arrived in our in-box while we were in transit today. The author is a friend of Seattlest who's recently completed his Ph.D. at the University of Washington and is moving to Washington, D.C. in a month and some to take up a prominent position at a major U.S. government agency. He is, apparently, bored.

As the world holds it's breath, teetering precariously on the cusp of the Super Bowl (well, at least in America), the wheels of the -ists keep on turning.

Thirteen teams turned out for Seattlest trivia last night at the Old Pequliar. Want to see how you'd do? Here are all the questions. We'll post answers later today, along with a list of team standings and anything else interesting we find to say about the event.

It'd be nice to be able to say that the electronic music scene is able to avoid the trappings of the Seattle hipsteritis. You'd think that when most of your product is meant for dancing, that that's what a crowd will do. Hardly. Even with a healthy crowd, it takes a lot of time (and liquid courage) to get a crowd worked up, and that's usually "worked up" by Seattle standards, which implies a lot of people standing around on the dancefloor, drinks in hand. Occasionally a show will be able to transcend that, but those are pretty hard to predict. That said, based on past history, DJ Minx should be able to get the people movin'.
