  • Jobs are difficult to find, but not so scarce that P-I staffers aren't feeling free to turn down Hearst's online operations job offers. "Bottom line: An online-only P-I is not a done deal. At least not yet," says Publicola's Sandeep Kaushik.
  • Southlake reports on a man shot in the butt, and Queen Anne View has a kickass firefighter who won a stair-climbing competition.
  • Over at Schmudget (caution: policy wonkstrosity ahead), they're talking about sub-prime lending in Washington state all week long. Today, their angle has to do with the depressing racial disparity in the mortgage market. Best of all, the post includes an infographic!

We wish the firefighter had caught on tape the moment he realized the green and grey paper on the side of I-90 was not just your average litter, but more than $15,000. "That's money," we picture him saying with giddy bewilderment, turning to his passengers, who probably thought at first he was just emphatically agreeing with and expressing the value of whatever John In The Morning had just said on KEXP. "Yeah, man, that's money!" "No! Money!" Sadly, the cash turned out to be fake, and the honorable firefighter turned in all $15,470 to the State Patrol yesterday. Giant scam foiled or performance art gone awry? We may never know.

  • Blogging Georgetown reports of repeated break-ins at the working urban organic oasis that is Marra Farms. Not only is Marra this amazing farm in the south of the city, where one would imagine nothing would grow without care or love, the folks at Marra do good work with Seattle Youth Garden Works and local food banks. So, double or triple shame on whoever is breaking in and tagging up the place.
  • And Lights & Sirens, the Northwest's finest crime blog (sorry Seattle 911--y'all are just getting started--but we really like you) shares a sad local loss from the continuing wildfires in California. The Fire Chief of East Pierce County died battling the Panther wildfire in Northern California this weekend. Early last week, a firefighter from Port Townsend also died fighting the California blazes.
