A confrontation in a downtown parking lot escalated into an all-out battle involving nearly 40 people, which took a SWAT Team and Gang Unit to quell. The incident occurred in the Bank of America Plaza parking lot on Fifth Avenue around 2 a.m. on Saturday morning. Two local women were taken to Harborview for injuries sustained in the fight--one had been stabbed and the other beaten. According to the P-I's report, a traffic dispute......

Photo by Seattle Daily PhotoFollowing up on yesterday’s front page P-I article lamenting the perilous relationships between pedestrians and automobiles, Seattlest would like to nominate the 5-way intersection and Monorail crossing at Fifth and Denny as a candidate for next year’s list of dangerous Seattle crossings. Seattlest has witnessed--and dodged--more than a few accidents at the non-blinking, unlighted crosswalk across Fifth Avenue, which also contains a mid-road Monorail pillar. Pedestrians must rely on their agility......

The American Institute of Architects asked 1800 Americans to name their favorite buildings in the US. A grand total of two Seattle buildings made the list: at #108, the gorgeous but metroartificial Seattle Public Library; and at #135, Safeco Field. Nowhere to be found: the viaduct, the EMP, Smith Tower, Washington Mutual Tower, Rainier Tower, Qwest......

Well, not officially dead like you'll get out of paying it if your car tabs come up this month, but the Monorail Project has started the process of ending the tax on June 30th, due to the fact that all those sexy properties the Project swept up to make way for the Green Line have been selling like hotcakes. Uh, hotcakes that you......

Since Saturday night's accident, the product of a 17-year-old design flaw that had been neatly avoided during the Monorail's career, Seattle's only two Monorail trains have been wedged together above Fifth Avenue. (See cool photos courtesy of the Seattle Times). Like Nick and Jessica, the trains' careers cannot advance until they are separated. Tonight, after rush hour, engineers will employ a big ol' crane to rent the two trains asunder. This will be cool. Tow......

It has been three years since the Lincoln Toe Truck last beckoned to I-5 exiters at Mercer Street. The land beneath the truck succumbed to condos, but the truck lives and through the generosity of the Lincoln family has been donated to MOHAI. There it will join other Seattle icons such as the Rainier Beer 'R' and Bobo the gorilla. You can catch a pre-museum glimpse of the pink ped during its festive, multiple-tow-truck......
