Editor Dan posted Monday about the "idiot" who ran on the field during Saturday's M's game and hugged Ichiro.
We've thus far deferred on shipping news to Editor Dan, primarily because we are lame and don't contribute enough. Yet his last post about one of our favorite shows got us to thinking. We've tried to figure out why we find the show so compelling --maybe because it's reality/documentary about real people rather than people who want to be stars. We have in the past jokingly ranked the show more interesting than some of our own friends.

--By a--if you can believe this-- vote of the Seattle School Board, Maria Goodloe-Johnson is the new superintendent.
As if today’s Mariners game needed any more drama, the standings show that if the season ended today the Mariners and Indians would play a one game play off for the Wild Card spot.
Somehow, we figured we just might meet up with Editor Dan on last Saturday's Viaduct tour. So it was no surprise when he called out our name and we saw him and Mrs. Seattlest walking our way.
Admission: We don't know shit about graphic novels (we were more baseball cards than comic books in our day)
Earlier today, one of you told us this: "Seattlest, you have a bit of the grumpy old man in you." Is it true, we wondered? So we asked Seattlest contributors if they've ever pulled that ultimate old man move: calling the cops. Turns out we are grumpy old men. And how!
Editor Dan loves you, Seattle. City, people, land, water and professional sports franchises; all of it. However, he cannot back you on the issue of the Seattle Seahawks vs. the Chicago Bears. If you're looking for calming words of compassion or hilarious Seahawks histrionics Seattlest will take care of you there, too, but one of us grew up with a Bears helmet painted on our neighbor's garage door and didn't appear in a photograph without any Bears paraphernalia until he was about 15, and that kind of indoctrination just doesn't wash away in half a decade of Seattle drizzle. In fact, to this day we maintain a close relationship with a few Chicago-based RSS feeds and we'll check in on them throughout the week.
According to the official rules, when a baseball team forfeits a game, the score is recorded thusly: the forfeitting team gets zero runs, the opponents gets as many runs as there were innings. In the case of most games, 9-0.
Man, is there a LOT of Bumbershoot stuff on Seattlest right now. If you're anything like Editor Dan you're hoping for a break in the Bumber action; a contributor's recounting of a trip to Lake Chelan, a reaction to a dunderheaded Seattle Times editorial, or even some lame PR survey naming Seattle 16th Most Fashionable City West of the Rockies. Anything! Well, you can hope for something different, but your hopes will be dashed because this is another Bumbershoot post.
TicketBastard just emailed Seattlest HQ to tell us "Don't Miss Kenny Loggins!" And thank goodness, because Seattlest most certainly doesn't. Miss Kenny Loggins, that is.
The weather can't make up its mind, but at Seattlest, we can. We're going to rain down our weekend plans on you. Recognize.
In between obsessively checking their progress in various NCAA tournament pools, here's how Seattlest types will spend their weekends.
In honor of President's Day, we've included our fave prezzes along with our weekend activity list.
Will the beautiful weather stick around for our weekend? If it does, plans may change and you may see us prancing through various municipal parks. As of now, however, here's how the weekend's shaking out.
There's one day this weekend that counts--Sunday, when the Seahawks play in the Super Bowl for the first and assuredly only time. How will Seattlest spend that glorious day?
Obviously the streets of the Emerald City will be empty between 1-5pm on Saturday, when the Seahawks play, but what are people doing the rest of the weekend?
Not sure what to do this weekend? Seattlest can help. Here's our weekly rundown of what we'll be doing during our days of rest.
This weekend, Seattlest will be representing at a high school basketball game, a chamber music concert, a church in Burien, and Alderwood Babies-R-Us, respectively. For the full 411, see below.
When this week began, wrestler Eddie Guerrero and TV pioneer Ralph Edwards were both alive. No one outside Steel Country had heard of Rep. John Murtha, and Bob Woodward still had credibility. Next week is really only three days, so probably nothing will happen. Thus, we at Seattlest intend to enjoy ourselves over the weekend.
If your local sausage merchant, empanada slinger or Seattlest editor seems to have an extra bop in his bop sh'bop sh'bop today, it's because the Chicago White Sox won the World Series last night.
