It took us almost four years to get the nerve up to dine at Fisher Plaza’s Sport restaurant. Any bar that close to Steve Pool and Fox Radio gives us pause. The fact that ABC has random video cameras hanging from the ceiling didn’t help either.

Looks like the end of the world as we know it--and they feel fine. Another glorious post-apocalyptic shot from the talented Seattlest Flickr Pool

Seattlest is getting word that 2nd Avenue in downtown Seattle has been closed due to police activity. The south-bound lane of the street between Virginia and Stewart has apparently been closed since 8 this morning. Seattlest's downtown spy reports a crowd gathering underneath a building where police are trying to dissuade a woman from jumping off a ledge.

This company pissed us off with their graffiti-esque chalk attack advertising recently in Downtown Seattle, but as far as we know not much came of it. Well, an anti guerrilla advertising site was created, but to our knowledge the city of Seattle didn't hold the company responsible for all their visual litter.

Microsoft, Amazon, Disney, Nintendo, The Robot Co-Op; the list of big name tech companies in the Puget Sound region includes some of the biggest, which is why we were surprised by the recent bandwidth report that ranked Washington 18th among U.S. states in high-speed internet access. Illinois is 17th, Michigan is 19th. Two fine states but what tech shops do they have? Rhode Island is number one, Kansas 2 and Jersey 3. Apparently the presence of large technology companies has shit to do with the speed of the general interweb in a region. California is 38th (phbbbbttt!) and South Dakota is dead 50th, which should be a warning to us all. Don't be like SD. We take it on faith that a slow internet leads directly to things like full-on abortion bans, although when we tried making a Red State vs Blue State map with these speed rankings it didn't pan out.

It's not only the anniversary of Mt. St. Helens exploding, it's also the event of a much more unexpected event: On May 18, 1992, for the very first time, a girl allowed 15-year-old Seattlest Seth to kiss her. If that isn't a shameless excuse for a Seattlest roundtable, what is? And so we present...Seattlest's first kiss:

After many on again, off again mis-starts Seattle Out and Proud is abdicating responsibility for Pride festivities this year, as expected.

Ever see a news story about this kind of thing and think "Holy shit what would it be like to be inside the store when that happens?" Now Seattlest knows someone who can answer that question.

On our way into the office we just saw a guy packing in a saxophone at 1st and Marion downtown. "Too damn cold," he said. Luckily we read the Seattle Times's "Just say no to panhandlers?" article over the weekend about a brochure that downtown businesses will distribute to shoppers and knew not to deal with him. Instead of commiserating with a fellow human being out in the sharp air we clutched our Nordstrom bags close and stared off into the distance, pretending like we hadn't heard him. What panhandler?

For years the City Council studied, pondered, and passive-aggressively argued the idea of placing five technologically advanced toilets in Downtown Seattle. Well, after all of the process, the toilets were finally installed in 2004.

Sixteen years ago today Randy Johnson threw the first no-hitter in Mariners history. The 6'10'' lefthander scattered 6 walks in the 2-0 victory over Detroit.

This year St. George's Day falls on a Sunday, so chances are you’ll be attending a party tonight or Saturday. The question then becomes how will you celebrate the actual holiday? Simple. Dine on an English meal.

Seattlest's bus ride to work lasts about twelve minutes. That's just long enough for us to find a seat, sit in it, open our bag, take out our laptop and boot it up, Start, Shutdown, Yes we would like the computer to shut down, put it away and get off the bus. Ah, another productive commute! You didn't notice it, but during the minute our computer was on it attempted and failed to find any available wireless networks. Our email rants to the editor were unable to fly out into the either.

Seattlest knows that not everyone is having a swell time in Bush's economy. Often people have to get some help with groceries by heading to our fine city's several food banks. We here have decided to give you a bit of a reference on these food banks if you were so inclined to donate either time, money or canned goods.

As the court case over the governor’s election drags on in Chelan County (it’s already been two days and no surprise witnesses!?!) we understand that those over at King County Elections may be a little down in the dumps. It appears that they’ve been forging documents, falling short in matching up votes to voters, and generally having a rough go of it.

Nestled right in the heart of downtown Seattle is a little bit o' free WiFi. Of all places to find out about this little gem, I came across it while viewing pictures of Seattle on Flickr. So take your laptop to Westlake Park and go surfing. thnx dantc
