Stoner Dog Didn't Say No To Drugs

On a recent trip to Seward Park, Jen Nestor took her dog Jack, an 11-year-old Labrador mix, out for a run. Jack, clearly a free spirit, dashed off into the woods for about three minutes, only to return a little dazed and confused. The Lab mix was high as a kite. His eyes were glassy, he was stumbling and staggering, and shortly after he started throwing-up liquid marijuana (gross!). So $1,500 in veterinary bills later, Jack is okay and is believed to have discovered some of the marijuana remnants from a five-and-a-half pound stash found in the park in April.

A Little Help for Man's Best Friend

A Little Help for Man's Best Friend

Our pet has needs like any other. Good food, good walks, good rubs… what else were we missing? We went to Animal Talk Pet Shop (6514 Roosevelt Way NE) to find out. Our pet was keen to investigate the goodie-crammed store: pet food, pet treats, even the potential for new friends. Animal Talk sells cats, birds, turtles, snakes, and even a tarantula that would have been a very good friend. more ›

USPS Bite Worse Than Dog's Bark

Some Montlake residents had fetch their mail from the Union Street post office early this week because of a dog with mail issues. Turns out, the USPS stopped delivering the mail to the entire block due one family's dog on the loose. The carrier, who has warned the family about their dog's behavior several times over the past two years--and fined them--finally went postal nuclear by alerting the postmaster, who promptly put the whole block on “Dog Hold.” It's a draconian response to the timeless battle between dogs and mailmen--is the assumption that the mail-less neighbors will grab the pitchforks and torches and rush over to ensure compliance? We're not sure, but since no one on the block knew why their mail had stopped coming, we think we see a flaw in this strategy. more ›

For Anyone in an Office Without Windows

These are a few of the things going on outside right now. Our current temperature reading is 62, but that's a Seattle 62, so it's like it's 75 in terms of the need for shorts and flip-flops. more ›

March News Comes in Like a 6,846 Bear

A former Husky linebacker is among the football players missing off Florida's Gulf Coast after a weekend fishing trip. Someone was shining lasers at planes at SeaTac last night, and the pilots are all, "Gah! Get that thing outta my eye!" There's no quick fix for the economy, but there's a free fix for your pet. Today is the last day to get your dog or cat spayed for free at Seattle Animal Shelter and it also happens to be the day that Jason the Bachelor hands out the final rose. Here's hoping the loser goes out like a lamb. more ›

We can't find the thrown ball in this photo. Is this a fake throw to get the dog to pose for the camera? You kind of get the sense from him that he's saying, "That's not necessary--How do you want me to stand? Like this? More devotion? Because I can do that." Cool picture, zeebleoop. Thanks for putting it in the Flickr Pool. more ›
