We’ve got fond childhood memories of going to the local pizza joint. We hated delivery, as we wanted to actually GO and see the process, which was mesmerizing: tossing/stretching the dough, spreading the sauce, sprinkling the cheese, shoveling into the oven, retrieving the finished product, and dividing into eighths with the pizza cutter. If we ate at the restaurant, we’d race back to the table just ahead of the server to eat our pieces of the pie.
Inmate Labor--Coming to a Prison Near You
The Washington State Department of Corrections wants local companies to know that the prisons are open for business. The DOC has contacted local Chambers of Commerce to say that the real way to cut costs is to use workers who have no right or say in what they do...prisoners are the perfect captive workers! While inmate labor had been previously shut down by the State Supreme Court, Washington voters opted to re-open prisons to private companies for business last November. We're wondering: when did liberal Washington decide that slavery needed a new and improved modern counterpart?
Got A Warrant? Avoid Seafair and Festivals
At least that's part of the lesson we learned from reading the Seattle Times feature news story on how corrections officers and cops troll Seattle festivals like The Bite and Seafair for lapsed felons and folks with outstanding warrants. The other thing we got from reading the story was never wanting to go to another free festival again.
