Brown Bear Car Wash is so happy that media and public attention has helped them retrieve 25 of more than 40 bear statues stolen from its Fife location that it's washing cars for free today at these 19 drive-thru locations:

As if you don't know, this weekend was the Northwest Regional Barista Competition, presented by the Specialty Coffee Association of America, and hosted by Hines Public Market Coffee and Stumptown Coffee Roasters. Seattlest was there, live, reporting away like a real reporter, just without the expense account. (Actually we had to leave to go find a hotspot. But we typed part of this post live and it was thrilling. We were standing *that* close to 2004 U.S. Barista Champion Bronwen Serna, who was helping judge this year.)

Saturday October 1st is the International Mountain Biking Association's annual "Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day". Plenty of research shows that parents who lead by example and participate in sports and outdoor activities will have kids who do the same--so get off the couch, turn off the XBox (you're 37 years old for the love of God), and go plunk your offspring on a set of wheels.

Passionate technology enthusiast, reporter, consultant, personality and entrepreneur Chris Pirillo recently moved himself and his Gnomedex conference to Seattle. Seattlest checked in on him to make sure he's settling in, altough we haven't had a chance to stop by with a box of cookies yet.
