">Throughout the campaign we have been gathering the top political writers in the country, and asking them to discuss the presidential race. Today they discuss the end of the Democratic primary, Senator Clinton's future, and a brief look at the general. Seattlest: It's been a very eventful week, with Senator Obama wrapping up the nomination and Senator Clinton set to end her campaign, where do you see the race going now? Ryan (Time Magazine): Finally.......

This whole thing started way back on January 3, a gray, rainy winter day with a high of 47. Now, six months later in the heat of a gray, rainy summer day with a high close to 60, it will come to an end. Remember how all those states moved their primary/caucus dates up so they would be important, how did that work there, Florida/Michigan? Senator Obama has rented out the 20,000 seat Xcel......

First of all, let us say that we didn't plan our Super Tuesday get-together as an Obama event. We support Obama; we've even given him $$. But we didn't ask candidate affiliation before inviting some friends, who invited some friends, and it just so happened that all 10 people who came to Seattlest HQ last night were Obama supporters (except for one girl who backs the Phoenix Suns. She was not a winner). One girl......

This Adbusters piece about liberalism and its current state of crisis isn't exactly new--looks like it's from their May/June issue--but it should be required reading in Seattle. The author talks about how liberals are rich white guys who don't really have anything to complain about, but don't seem to do much besides complain. They need to man up and start acting like the born and bred civic rulers they are and blah blah blah. You......

Sometimes, The Seattle Times has got to make you wonder. It was one thing to go ahead and endorse David Reichert for Congress over Darcy Burner despite widespread dissatisfaction with Republican leadership, but to spin his shameless partisanship as moderation? That's a new low. In today's Times, chief political reporter David Postman tries to defend Reichert's damning comment (currently viewable in high-rotation Democratic Party attack ad) that, "[W]hen the leadership comes to me and says,......

In 2000, hard core lefties who were fed up with the Democratic Party voiced their displeasure by voting for Ralph Nader-- and we all know how that turned out. In 2004, realizing what they were up against, they got behind the party and voted for their fears over their dreams. It should be interesting to see what they do this fall. Senator Cantwell has irked many lefties with her vote for the war in Iraq,......

The Sonics lost their first preseason game last night, 82-75 to Nate McMillan's Portland Trail Blazers. McMillan, you will recall, played 12 years for the Sonics and coached the team for 5. But, after his contract expired last season, he made the admirable decision to test new waters as the coach of the notoriously uncoachable Blazers. McMillan's move elevates the Sonics-Blazers rivalry to one of the NBA's most compelling. To draw an analogy for those......

Our right to elect a violent, delusional felon to the mayoralty of Seattle is in jeopardy. If you care about freedom, read on. King County, the Seattle Times, and probably the high priests of the Bilderberg Conference are conspiring to keep local insane person Omari Tahir-Garrett out of the mayor's race. Why? Because his form of political protest makes the Man uneasy. In 2001, Tahir-Garrett expressed his political views with ACTION--by sneaking up on......

Fans of progressive radio will want to tune in this afternoon between 12 and 3pm (you're late) for the Ed Schultz Show broadcast from Town Hall. If you had known about the event earlier you could have bought tickets to see it live and helped benefit First Place, but you already dropped the ball on that. Listen to AM 1090 to hear Ed talk to Governor Gregoire about her current trade mission (she'll be on......

Political moments come and go pretty quickly in Seattle, but more often than not they are etched in vinyl on fender years after their time in the sun. Read the city's bumper stickers and you'll know that Seattle was feeling Howard Dean even if all the meetup.com hysteria is in the past. Remember the Democrat you were way back a year ago when you, full of hopes and dreams, slapped that sticker on the back......

Former anybody but Bush candidate Senator John Kerry is in town raising money, hosting forums and generally bringing…it…on. This morning Kerry is hosting a town hall forum with Senator Patty Murray regarding his Kids First Act legislation, which would use Medicaid to provide health care for children living in poverty. Last night he attended a fundraiser for the state Democratic Party to help pay for the costs of the on-going legal action following the governor’s......

After a failed run for governor last year (or perhaps he won, we're still going through old voting rolls) Ron Sims will be seeking his third term as King County Executive this fall. In 2001 he easily defeated Kirkland City Councilman Santos Contreras, however this year the GOP thinks that they can reclaim the position that was last held by a Republican in 1993. They feel that Sims is vulnerable because of the problems he......
