It struck us halfway through Green Bay's 5th straight drive for a touchdown that Brett Favre's performance in this game was a lot like Roger Clemens' one-hit performance against the Mariners in the 2000 ALCS. When faced with a Hall-of-Famer at his best, what can you do? Favre was 18-23, throwing pinpoint pass after pinpoint pass: timing routes, hitting guys in stride, and, in the highlight that will come to represent this game, breaking out......

We've been reading and rereading Hawks/Packers stuff all week. Here the few things we think are important about Saturday's game: 1) The Hawks' Patrick Kerney made the Pro Bowl this year for terrorizing quarterbacks, but he may not be much of a factor in this game. The Packers gave up the fewest sacks of any NFL team--not because they have a terrific offensive line, but because they designed their offense that way. Brett Favre often......

More snow--today's games are postponed. they'll play a doubleheader on Sunday, and try to make the third game up during an off day later in the season. Geoff Baker reports that a Cleveland paper described Hargrove's heroics last night thusly: "Hargrove pulled an invisible rabbit from his cap and somehow persuaded the umpires to feed it carrots." In other news: --Oregon State isn't OSU anymore, they are OS. It's an attempt to trick recruits into......

All-star surgeon James Andrews fixed Matt Hasselbeck's torn labrum yesterday. Hasselbeck's played with the injury, which is in his non-throwing shoulder, for three seasons, but it apparently got too troublesome. Hasselbeck's out for six months--he'll be back by exhibition season, but he'll miss the minicamp where he was hoping to get his timing down with Nate Burleson and Deion Branch. Damn labrums. Will Carroll of Baseball Prospectus calls a labrum tear baseball's most fearsome injury.......

Bill Simmons (a.k.a. "The Sports Guy") of ESPN isn't impressed with the Seahawks' trade for Deion Branch. We'll take his rant with a grain of salt because Simmons thinks the sun shines out of the assholes of the Patriots front office, but here it is: Seattle made one of the all-time panic trades, barely beating the Lions in Detroit, then panicking and ponying up an unprotected No. 1 for Deion Branch 24 hours later. Now,......

--We were feeling like sort of a dork for spending our Friday night at the Garfield/Franklin football game, but less so when current NY Knick Nate Robinson sat down about fifteen feet from us. Robinson's brother Jacque is a senior running back for the Bulldogs. Older brother was there with a few friends. For the most part, people left him alone. We snapped a few clandestine photos of us with the Great in the background.......

In an effort to score more than nine freaking points in a game, the Seahawks have finally managed to trade for New England's Deion Branch, a star wideout. He'll fill in nicely opposite Darrell Jackson, and has the ability to be the #1 receiver should Jackson's knee prove (more) troublesome. The trade comes after Branch started the season by holding out, paying $14,000 a day past the start of training camp on July 28 to......
