Check it out, you'll be sorry if you miss your opportunity to get in while the gettin's good.
Will Call: Concerts on Sale This Week
Can't Miss It: Tuesday
HEY LADIES: The Fremont Abbey will be hosting a ladies-only Dance Dance Party Party (DDPP) tonight in the church's basement for those who would rather break a sweat to Madonna than go to the gym as usual. Described as a "female-only cult phenomenon," DDPP has no instructors, fitness goals, and absolutely nothing to prove. Damn straight. Expect to do a lot of dance, dance, dancing and have a ton of fun with some fellow ladies bustin' a move to all the usual dance party favorites.
Election Dance Party USA
There was a happy commotion on the real Capitol Hill last night at Broadway and Pike. Naturally it involved Journey. (Thanks to Todd for posting the great video above on YouTube. How about an aerial view, you ask?) Over on the other side of the country, DC got down, too. New York took pictures of itself, Chicago understandably took more, Los Angeles was ready for a close-up, Philly got it on video, San Francisco--well of course San Francisco partied, even Toronto celebrated, while London livebloggged.
Islands in the Stream
Sometimes with club security, it's feast or famine. Recently, Seattlest had been at an all-ages show at the Croc, where a bouncer went through everything in our bag, rummaging through pockets, opening our coin purse, and ultimately confiscating an empty plastic water bottle. On the other hand, Wednesday night at Neumo's, the guy at the door barely glanced at our ID and let us in without so much as a cursory examination of our purse. And here we had been worrying about trying to enter a venue with a full bottle of vitamin B6.
Weekend Art
First Thursday passed, and if you did the Walk that doesn't mean that you've put in your art appreciation time for the month and you're off the hook. There're some exhibits worth seeing at COCA and Born Magazine's "Help Wanted" show, specifically the "Afterwords" video wall. Don't miss it--it's behind the rummage sale/"Estate of Beverly Thomas" piece.
