Get Out Tonight: Beethoven & Friends, The Final Concert

CHAMBER MUSIC: Pianist Byron Schenkman wraps up his three-part Beethoven series at Town Hall with works by Beethoven and composers who followed him: Moscheles and Mendelssohn. Moscheles, one of the great pianists of his time, was a friend of both Beethoven and Mendelssohn. Beethoven's variations on a theme of Handel ("See the conquering hero" from Judas Maccabeus) and Moscheles's adaptation of a Bach prelude pre-date Mendelssohn's Bach revival and give context for his first cello sonata. The concert's guest artist is Daedalus Quartet cellist Raman Ramakrishnan, who will also play Beethoven's cello sonata in A, Op. 69. more ›
