CHAMBER MUSIC: Pianist Byron Schenkman wraps up his three-part Beethoven series at Town Hall with works by Beethoven and composers who followed him: Moscheles and Mendelssohn. Moscheles, one of the great pianists of his time, was a friend of both Beethoven and Mendelssohn. Beethoven's variations on a theme of Handel ("See the conquering hero" from Judas Maccabeus) and Moscheles's adaptation of a Bach prelude pre-date Mendelssohn's Bach revival and give context for his first cello sonata.
