As fall settles in and another calendar page gets turned, thoughts turn from bbq's and vacations to holidays and the realization that '06 is coming to an end. With all that going on, with change in the air, we wonder what is it that made that makes the -ists ponder? As the Mariners continue to stagger through the second week of the season our optimism following the 3-1 start has dropped a bit, okay a huge bit. We may need to take a break tonight since we have spent the last few games with our head in our hands. Tomorrow night Felix pitches, which is always fun to watch, and Friday night there is an interesting pitching match up (at least until the game begins)......

Going into Friday's game against Oakland, the Mariners were 3-1 and batting .329 as a team. We were feeling good. But this weekend, the Mariners provided a display of team hitting futility that was historic even for them. And this is a team that once had Pat Putnam lead them in RBI. With 67.
