- As of 9 a.m. this morning, Sea-Tac's cell phone waiting lot has re-opened. The new lot is twice the size, with nearly 100 spaces and can be found just north of the old lot on Air Cargo Road.
- My Ballard reported that around 3 a.m. this morning, a car collided smackdab into a utility pole at Market Street near Third Avenue, leaving the 27-year-old driver trapped inside. Rescue crews were able to cut the driver free, who was then sent to Harborview with non-life threatening injuries.

When Culinary Communion closed last month, they announced that their Lunch Counter and Swinery elements would remain open. However, Beacon Hill Blog reports that the Lunch Counter just lost its lease--and the Swinery is in an increasingly tight spot as it tries to sell its last month's worth of delicious bacon legally. Sad, but there's an upside: The Swinery is selling "Bacon Pimp" t-shirts, free with your purchase of 50 or more pounds of their bacon. Early stocking stuffer idea? We emphatically believe so.
What’s Cookin’: Going Beyond the Great Wall
We’ve been big fans of Jeffrey Alford and Naomi Duguid since reading Hot Sour Salty Sweet: A Culinary Journey Through Southeast Asia (James Beard Foundation’s Cookbook of the Year for 2000). This coffee table-worthy book completely captured us with great recipes, gorgeous photos, and even its glossary. We immediately dug deep into their earlier work, including the aptly named Seductions of Rice, which is also as much travelogue as it is cookbook.
