Mary Cooper and Susanna Stodden were murdered two years ago while on a summer day hike. For two years the chilling case has remained unsolved, with no arrests ever made--leaving the victims' family and all of us local hikers at a loss for closure. In hopes of solving the cold case, Seattle-based Investigative Films is working on a documentary film about the murders. The documentary appears to have the blessing and cooperation of Cooper's and Stodden's family. On Monday, Dave Stodden hiked to the site of his wife and daughter's murder as part of the filming.

Obviously, Sione Lui does not watch as much Law & Order, CSI, or Cold Case as Seattlest does. The 38-year-old was convicted today of the 2001 murder of his fiance Elaine Boussiacos. The evidence that broke this cold case wide open? Detectives noticed that Lui had given his current wife the "missing" engagement ring he'd bought for his deceased fiance. Since TV does not lie, we believe this is how it all went down:

Unbeknownst to us, producers of CBS's glossy detective series, Cold Case have been using all sorts of pop music from Toby Keith to The Postal Service to elevate the cool factor of each episode. Their website even has a page listing the "Music of Cold Case" -- some episodes of which showcase a single recording artist (such as the 2/18/07 "Blood on the Tracks" episode featuring music from Bob Dylan).

We're currently toning our TV watching muscles for the fall and we're extra excited about the new Seattle-based legal drama set to premiere as a part of Q13's Sunday lineup. King County Cold Case (or "K3C" as we'll immediately start calling it) is the story of a local crime lab headed by a hard-nosed prosecuting attorney played by Tom Skerritt. Hillary Swank will costar as a lawyer recruited by the department from the most-dangerous-offender project. One of the more significant subplots will involve a chaotic on-again off-again romance between Skerritt and Swank and their struggles to hold onto anything substantial in the present while they investigate the criminals of the past.
