Give Back: “Cabernet Classic” Fundraiser for CoCA

If you love wine - particularly the Cabernet grape varieties - here’s your chance to sample Cabernet and Cabernet -based blends from over thirty Washington wineries* while helping to raise money for the Center on Contemporary Art. The CoCA benefit, produced and arranged by resident Sommelier David LeClaire, will also allow the opportunity to meet and chat with the wine-makers who have each crafted their own styling of what is Washington State’s leading red varietal. Local artists will be on hand presenting their work as well. All proceeds from the event will go to CoCA.

When the creativity faucet is on full blast, it can get tricky to turn it off--so these 25 local artists aren't even going to try. Instead, they have signed up to participate in a 24-hour art marathon in a beautiful old building in Georgetown, presented to the general public by CoCA for the 16th year in a row. By the time you read this, the marathon will have commenced; there are still twenty-some hours to pay your $25 (or $50 with wine and dinner) and get in on the silent and live auctions. This weekend's also the monthly Georgetown Art Attack--seems like it has potential to be quirky and interesting, right? Everybody loves arting in Georgetown!

ART & TRAUMA: The Center on Contemporary Art in Ballard is kicking off its series of "After Dark" events with Slow Healing—a documentary/multi-media presentation about veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan who have returned from the field with Traumatic Brian Injuri (TBI). There'll be a slideshow at 9 p.m., followed by Butoh dancing and SEA SHOW.
