If you think the Pike Place Market gets packed when the tourist season is at it's height, you aint seen nothin' yet! Last night, the Arcade Lights, an event put on by the Pike Place Market to raise money for The Market Foundation, had a showing of 70 local wineries, breweries, restaurants and confectioneries along with hundreds of locals eating, drinking and making merry.
A Feeding Frenzy: Last Night at the Arcade Lights
Food Frenzy: Cider, Cakespy (and Pie), Pretzel Balls and Get Hoppy!
This week, we're feeling a little sweet-centric. With National S'more Day on August 10 and a pie-pop up at Cakespy, it's tough not to have desserts on the brain. Plus, we are cider fanatics and super excited about the fete at Bottlehouse Saturday. BOKA joins pretzel mania with their balls and want you to try them this Friday. What a delicious week!
Food Frenzy: Il Corvo Pasta, Taiwan Night Market and Cider!
This week, our picks (of course) revolve around the plethora of events surrounding Seattle Beer Week. And yes, we are already plotting our strategy/plan for Tamara Murphy's annual meat-tastic event.
Getting to the Heart of Hard Cider: Cider Summit NW This Saturday
Presented by Whole Foods and with over 40 different ciders from all over the world, this is not an event to pass up.
Can't Miss It: Tuesday
LIVING LEGENDS: No, not Twiggy. We're talking about the hiphop crew out of Cali, two members of which will be performing at Neumos tonight. The Grouch and Eligh are touring for the holidays (official tour title: "How The Grouch Stole Christmas"), sharing the evening's bill with Bayliens and 206 Zulu cornerstones Alpha P. The duo will release an album called Say G&E in the spring, so attendees tonight should be getting a sneak peek at the new material; we've also heard The Grouch's solo album Show You The World, which fans of underground and indie hiphop (a la Atmosphere) are encouraged to check out.
What's Cookin': Fall Cider Celebration at Ivar's
Apples are among our favorites finds at the farmers markets these days, and on a cold fall day, there’s nothing like a cup of warm cider. But where are the cider doughnuts? Is that just a New England thing? We miss that pairing!
Now That's a Good Fall Drink
The internet knows drinks, we'll tell you what. A little while ago we were casting about for a good fall drink, and have been trying out the various suggestions. A Maker's Manhattan ranks right up there, but yesterday we were tipped off to the existence of the "Broken Leg." Hot cider and bourbon. It's a little tricky to hunt down the cider (we called 15th Avenue's Liberty, Smith, and 22 Doors before the Canterbury came through for us), but we're here to tell you it's worth it. Just be careful--it goes down real easy.
