             + 2 more

The Good Hurt celebrated their CD release at Chop Suey Friday night with a house full of friends, fans and dancing. It was also the kick off show for their second tour this year. These guys have been pushing hard for the last couple of years and there's no sign of them stopping. more ›

Seattlest Suggests: Shenandoah Davis CD Release w/ Paleo Tonight

Seattlest Suggests: Shenandoah Davis CD Release w/ Paleo Tonight

The Seattle music scene is rife with musicians intermingling amongst bands as well as breaking off to perform solo as well. Shenandoah Davis is one of these incredibly talented artists taking part in several bands' shows, as a permanent fixture in Grand Hallway and a budding solo career. Everything she's involved in basically turns to aural gold. Being one of the very few talented accordion players in the city doesn't hurt her popularity either especially with the prominence of orchestral pop these days. more ›

Bryan John Appleby's <em>Fire on the Vine</em>: Where've You Been All My Life?

Bryan John Appleby's Fire on the Vine: Where've You Been All My Life?

It's rare to find a true storyteller amongst musicians. Granted, most songwriters are able to use words to their advantage in creating a solid combination of music and lyrics, and are able to weave them together in a way at which the rest of us jealously marvel. more ›

New Music Spotlight: Sean McGrath

New Music Spotlight: Sean McGrath

One benefit of being submersed in music day and night is finding new, extremely talented, musicians that hardly anyone has heard of. The immediate reaction to that is "I need to tell everyone about them!". Luckily for us, we have a platform to do that... Seattlest! One such performer that we'd like to introduce you to is Sean McGrath. He's been frequenting Conor Byrne's Sunday open mic for a couple months now and we have definitely taken notice. He is playing one of his first big shows in Seattle tonight at Columbia City Theater alongside Kevin Long and Noah Gundersen. As we mentioned yesterday, it's going to be epic so get your butts down to Columbia City. If not, regret will soon follow. more ›

Seattlest Music Recommends: Kevin Long CD Release Tomorrow

Seattlest Music Recommends: Kevin Long CD Release Tomorrow

Kevin Long has been a musician in Seattle for many years. An IT guy by day, he's been directing his artistic juju toward music with every spare minute he can get his hands on. A steadily growing following over the last few years, mostly in Spokane, has helped him gain some momentum as he plays live shows left and right to promote his upcoming release. more ›

Seattlest Music Presents: Andrew Vait

Seattlest Music Presents: Andrew Vait

This, sadly, is the last mega post we'll be offering up to you for the very first Seattlest Music Presents show. It's been a crazy ride, but a fun one to be sure. We'd like to finally introduce our headlining act, Andrew Vait. He has an incredible history of music in his life, starting with jazz sax as a youngster, to the present as a singer-songwriter with a guitar slung over his shoulder. more ›

Ravenna Woods CD Release Tonight--Not to Be Missed.

Ravenna Woods CD Release Tonight--Not to Be Missed.

Ravenna Woods has continued to impress us both on their album, and in their live shows. With a solid heavy drum beat running through most of their songs it's hard not to tap your foot or feel like dancing (even when you're supposed to be quietly sitting at your desk and working -cough-). more ›

The Strokes <em>Angles</em> Leaked...Sorta

The Strokes Angles Leaked...Sorta

This morning music fans were going a little crazy. Thirty seconds of each song on the impending new release Angles by The Strokes was available on iTunes. One blog had comment after comment of frenzied techie and non-techie music lovers attempting to rip the previews and string them together (probably one blog of thousands with that string of comments). more ›

Kelli Schaefer Belts It Out at Her CD Release This Friday

Kelli Schaefer Belts It Out at Her CD Release This Friday

There is no shortage of female singers in this town. One might even venture to say there's no shortage of good female singers in this town. Rarely, though, do you see someone with such intensity and earnestness in their style of singing as you see in Kelli Schaefer. Granted, she's not really "from this town", rather from our sister city to the south Portland, but the case is made regardless. more ›

Gallery: Campfire OK & Bryan John Appleby Took Our Socks

Ok, maybe they didn't take our socks away completely, but Saturday night's Campfire OK CD release certainly knocked them off and then some. It's incredible how intimate a group of a couple hundred people can seem. Campfire OK's release felt like a living room full of friends, amazing music and camaraderie abound. You really missed out on something if you couldn't manage a ticket to this sold-out show. You can, however, enjoy some shots from the evening. Feast your eyeballs on the flickr set for more. more ›

Get Out Tonight: Telekinesis @ the Croc

A couple days ago, we asked Seattlest readers for music recommendations, and while we haven't had a chance to really check out everything they recommended, there is one stand-out we have fallen for: Telekinesis. Essentially a solo project by local singer-songwriter Michael Benjamin Lerner, it's a fantastic mix of danceable garage rock with decent lyrics that don't make you wretch, reminiscent of Guided By Voices. And, in a fine twist of fate, tonight happens to be their CD release party, at the new Croc, for their self-titled debut. Headliner is Throw Me the Statue, another fine local band; it's 21 and over. more ›

Get Out Saturday: Mono in VCF at the Triple Door

Get Out Saturday: Mono in VCF at the Triple Door

Not so long ago, wandering the halls of a local music venue, we noticed a cool-looking poster for a band called Mono in VCF. Strange name, we thought. more ›

Get Out Tonight: The Purrs CD Release Party @ the Sunset Tavern

Visqueen Plays Tonight at the Croc

Visqueen Plays Tonight at the Croc

There are about a million reasons to go see Visqueen tonight at the Crocodile, and unless you've been living under a rock, you already know they're one of Seattle's best, most amusing live bands. Well, add one more reason to go to your list: Rachel's new haircut. Based on the pic above, we have to say we like it (but we're far too smitten to be unbiased). So now you can go and see if the haircut works with Rachel's frontwoman antics (we predict no issues), while Seattlest instead will be using the hair as a reason to go talk to Ms. Flotard - *swoon*. Don't worry, we have a strong lack of "game," so the "conversation" will involve no more than us mumbling "Nice haircut" as we walk by on our way to the exit. Yup, we're smooth. more ›

Kuma Fast Approaching

It's too late for us to tell you about the drawing at Three Imaginary Girls for Kuma tickets. We understand that you're mad and we accept that anger. You missed the deadline for entry, and to a certain way of thinking, Seattlest is responsible. We know this is a wound that will never heal, but maybe we can alleviate some of the pain: Tickets are still available to Kuma's CD release party at Chop Suey on Friday. FCS North are opening and are also very very good and Sushirobo and The Atomic Bombshells Burlesque will be performing as well. more ›
