Gallery: Cake, Delicious to the Last Note

The show started off slow, to say the least. Cake was a bit late hitting the stage and kind of tricked us, starting up epic-sounding music and lighting up the stage's backdrop (a lovely scenic mountainscape). This went on for what seemed to be five minutes, and then they finally emerged to hundreds of screaming fans. The Moore was jam packed and every single person was excited to be there. Not just happy, but truly excited. The band quickly caught on to that fact and opened up having a fantastic time. Since it was "an evening with Cake" rather than an opener followed by the main act, they split their performance into two sets giving themselves and the audience a little break. Even with close to two hours of music ringing through the halls of the Moore, it didn't feel like we heard nearly enough. One charming moment came when they gave away the bare-looking cherry tree sitting on stage. The lucky owner was required to post photos on Cake's official site of herself with the planted tree and perhaps a jar of jam for the band (she admitted to canning fruits from her own trees at home). It was quite clear that Seattle can't wait for their next serving of Cake. more ›

Frosting to Please Any Cupcake Lover

Frosting to Please Any Cupcake Lover

Birthdays, anniversaries, promotions, and celebrations alike have at least one cool thing in common: cake. In this instance, it’s cupcakes. Recently, we celebrated a birthday, and the cupcakes (specifically the frosting) were too good not to share them with you! Our sister-in-law, the pastry chef extraordinaire, was the mastermind behind the dessert. She concocted the frosting and was willing to let everyone in on her secrets. She knows how to play with a recipe to make it just right. Make this frosting at the next social gathering, and you might find yourself on the Martha Stewart Show too! more ›
