Editor's Note: Earlier this year, Seattlest Clint's favorite coffee shop was shuttered. What followed was a series of indignities that should chill the heart of any coffee-loving Seattleite. By which we mean, any Seattleite. We present Clint's harrowing story in five parts. Here are Parts I, II, and III.
Javadise Lost: Part IV
"Welcome to the Metropolitan Market Café!"
That was the greeting we received when we rounded the corner to the front lobby of said market. That and a giant, bland sign listing the coffee drinks this new "café" will be selling. "Are you fucking kidding me?" is what we wanted to say to the lady behind the counter, wearing a sparkling clean apron and Lisa Loeb glasses. Instead, we rolled our glazed eyes from her face up to the strips of brown butcher paper covering most of the logo of our favorite Seattle coffee establishment. "We'd better still be asleep," we said, not really under our breath. "And this'd better be a nightmare."
Bear Sightings at Seattle Galleries, Coffee Shops
Seattlest sifts through stacks of papers at our local coffee shops and art galleries, because while there's a lot of advertorial crap out there, every once in a while you find something really cool. Recently, for example, we spotted The Bear Deluxe.
CHAW on This
Tonight, Capitol Hill officially joins the club, with their first (ever?) Capitol Hill Art Walk at 7-9pm. The CHAW, as people who enjoy smokeless tobacco like to say, will be a monthly First Thursday event, just like the ones in Pioneer Square and Downtown.
