OBAMA! OBAMA!: No, not that Obama. In fact this event has nothing to do with the President-Elect and everything to do with art--really bad art, to be specific. Spend your Thursday night enjoying (or eviscerating) the Official Bad Art Museum of Art (acronym: OBAMA) at Cafe Racer. Drink some booze, hear a band (called "God's Favorite Beefcake", no less), and enjoy glitter paintings of Elvis...could anything be better? We didn't think so.

ART: Our main man Rick Klu has some more of this trademark coaster art - picture pscyhedellic hot rod art and underground comics, ala Skip Williamson, Rick Griffin, Robt Williams, that kind of thing - on the walls at Cafe Racer up in the Roosevelt area.

Seattle cartoonist confederation "Friends of the Nib" will host a benefit art show at Cafe Racer Saturday night (6-8pm), and according to an email we received from one Max Woodring, "100% of all proceeds from art sales will go to Jason Gooder, who was recently injured in a fall."

Apropos of nothing, Snohomish artist Jason Miles posted the above drawing, entitled "Dead Sharpie", on his blog, and we think its bitchin' enough to warrant sharing with you here in this context. You can also see more work by Miles and other local artists including Jim Woodring at the Friends of the Nib show, currently on exhibit through June 15 at Cafe Racer, 5828 Roosevelt Way NE Seattle, Washington (206) 523-5282, two doors south of The Trading Musician.
