Cyndy's On Aurora Might Become Strip Club

Cyndy's On Aurora Might Become Strip Club

One pancake house goeth, and another strip club cometh; but Aurora's tackiness abideth forever. Looks like Bob Davis, the guy who's plunking down cash for Cyndy's Pancake House, will be turning the into a kitchen-equipped strip club come spring. Seattlest knows not a few rappers who will be very happy at the prospect of food plus sexy naked ladies, that's for sure. Mmmm, bacon and boobs! Two of life's greatest pleasures, right? Together at last. more ›

Sexy Baristas Have Gone Too Far, Says Bonney Lake

Sitting here, looking out our window at the torturous rain and gray skies, thinking about killing ourselves--you know, the usual thing to do when it's June but still feels like February. more ›

Retro Dork

Retro Dork

Dorkbot, we've missed you. If our attendance record for the monthly technology and art event has been spotty at best recently --we've only been to one meeting since it lost the CoCA digs-- it's not because of the scheduled themes. They've all been awesome: Multimedia Performance at the Abbey, Innovation in Games back at CoCA, remote aerial photography at CHAC (actually we did get to that one)... New curator whatshisname (can't find it on the website--someone help) has done great things. Please, though, find a permanent home. Last night was at the 911 Media Arts Center and that seems like it could work. Make it work, Dorkbot. more ›

Local Blog Review: Dave's Long Box

Local Blog Review: Dave's Long Box

Seattlest used to read a lot of comic books. We still read comic books, actually, just not as many of them since we shook the Marvel monkey off our back in college. (Yeah, we read trade paperback collections from the library. And started buying 52. Shut up.) more ›

Sounds, Morningwood, Action Action at El Corazon

Sounds, Morningwood, Action Action at El Corazon

Saturday's show at El Corazon had a long line of youngsters snaking along Eastlake/Howell for a few blocks, which we followed to the end and then kept walking to the Re-Bar to drink while waiting for the line to die. We came back a few minutes after 10, but there was still a line and Action Action had already started playing. From the street we couldn't really make out the layered synth pop sound they are known for, obviously. Once inside, our friend pointed out that the bassist reminded her of a boy she dated in high school, probably due to the projectile sweating and enthusiasm. "He looks so excited to be on the stage." If you have to do all-ages shows like this, one of the advantages of El Corazon is the abundance of surveillance monitors in the bar (there seemed to be dozens of them), so if you're an aging alcoholic requiring constant booze at all times, you can get your drink on and not miss everything. more ›
