If you are a serious craft beer connoisseur, you're likely very familiar with the biggest beer event of the year: The Great American Beer Festival held in Denver, CO at the end of September. But, less talked about, yet heavily attended is our neighboring nations' equivalent: The Great Canadian Beer Festival. Not nearly as large, but equally awesome, the GCBF is held at Royal Athletic Park in Victoria, BC. The event is a two-day beer bonanza kicking off on Friday (Sept. 9th) from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and continuing on Saturday (Sept. 10th) from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. This will be the 18th year running for the beer fest and crowds of around 8,000 are to be expected to attend. Breweries from all over Canada and the United States will be featured -- 58 in total this year, five of which will be from our fair Emerald City.
Northern Exposure: Seattle Brews at the Great Canadian Beer Fest
Latona Pub & Local Breweries Team Up for Earth Day (Week)
Last week Latona Pub's Bar Manager Ellliot Ryan, came up with an idea on how to celebrate 4/22 (aka Earth Day) at the bar: carry the kegs from the breweries. The terms were much easier than what you think as he, along with some loyal disciples, carried kegs from many local breweries using anything other than truck or car.
Happy Beer Hour, Part Two
Beveridge Place Pub, West Seattle ("Micro" Mondays 3 p.m. to close). Known for their willingness to accommodate man's other best friend, look to this alehouse with over 22 handles as a nice respite from the heat outside for you and your dog. Look out for $3 Red Dot pints and $12 pitchers.
Go Drink Beer This Weekend
#1 on our list of events for the weekend is the Elysian Pumpkin Beer Festival this Saturday up at the Capitol Hill location. There will be 13 different pumpkin beers on tap, including the GABF silver-medal-winning The Great Pumpkin Ale. Festivities begin at noon with the tapping of the Great Pumpkin at 4pm; a huge pumpkin in which a batch of Night Owl carried out its secondary fermentation. Yum.
Get Out: Burn, Techies, Burn
Tonight is the fourth Ignite Seattle tech event and since the two previous ones that we attended were so mind-explodingly great, we recommend it without reservation. Lots of drunk technology guys and entrepreneurs will be mixing with each other and taking in the super short presentations that super smart people are scheduled to give.
Seattlest Beer Spots - The Latona Pub
Ah...The Latona. Good food, good beer and good people. When this Seattlest used to live in the Tangletown neighborhood, We could often be seen sitting at the bar or in one of the chairs at a table outside near the sidewalk. If you live near hear, this is a must visit.
What's on Tap: Thursday, June 21, 2007
Some of you may be interested in checking out the newly opened Tap House Grill in downtown Seattle. Although we have had issues with service, beer quality and availability of beers on their list at the Tap House in Bellevue, we are still hoping the Seattle location works out. With 160 beers on tap, it should not be hard to find something you want. The new Seattle location is in the old Planet Hollywood building on 6th Ave., between Pike and Pine. The location is prime, which means it will likely be constantly packed.
Give Dad Beer For Fathers Day
We were all happy to hear about the return of this weekend’s Washington Brewers Festival at Saint Edward State Park. If you are looking for a last minute Fathers Day present, is there anything better than taking your dad out to drink beer all day (While watching people throw kegs)?
Beer Dinner at Ray's
We had the pleasure of attending our second “Brewmasters Dinner” at Ray’s Boathouse Café this past Thursday.
