If you've spotted another Leif Bearickson or even a cougar--not that type of cougar--lurking in your backyard, feel free to give the Washington State Fish and Wildlife critter-catchers a call. But as for a bobcat? You are on your own, say Fish and Wildlife officials. They recently told a Bellevue woman she had to fend for herself and hire a nuisance control company to remove the furry bobcat that's been hanging out behind her home.

"A bear has been tranquilized in a wooded area near Interstate 5 in Everett," says KIRO TV. We assume they shot him, you know, rather than slipped something into his mojito. Here's the Chopper 7 video.

Beacon Hill blog is covering what we have to believe is the sighting of a second bear near 17th and Ferdinand. Our first bear was last seen heading north up in Shoreline. In fairness, not everyone is in love with our bi-locatory new power animal: a commenter on the KING 5 story says: "Geeeezus just give him one behind the ear and call it good. Stop wasting so much money trying to find and trap the damn thing."

New "Bear Testers" Offer to Check Your Tent's Durability

We hadn't had any bear posts today, but luckily this just came in under the wire. Woodland Park Zoo's "Bear Affair & Big Howl for Wolves" (presented by Brown Bear Car Wash!) returns June 6. Admission is free as part of your zoo admission, which runs: Adult (13-64) $16.50; Child (3-12) $11.00; Toddler (0-2) free. There will be “bear-safe” camp site demonstrations (see above), keeper talks, treats for bears and wolves, and--hey, where'd little Jimmy wander off to?! Ha ha! We kid, of course. Fun fact: Approximately 25,000 black bears exist in Washington.

A 54-year-old avid hiker from Snohomish County was killed this weekend, when an inexperienced hunter mistook her for a bear and fired a single fatal shot. Pam Almli was hiking with a friend on Sauk Mountain in the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest on Saturday morning. Reportedly, Almli was bending down and putting something in her backpack when she was shot. The name of the tragically mistaken hunter has not been released, as he is under 18 years old. Turns out, the Vice President mistaking an old huntin' buddy for a quail is funny, while this hunting-mishap story just strikes us as tragic and sad, for everyone involved.

We can't decide if this image is absolutely adorable or somewhat terrifying. Its awesomeness, like most everything in our Seattlest Flickr Pool, is indisputable. "The Panda Sees it All" by Joe Sizzle .

See what happens when it snows in the mountains in June? Even the bears are tired of it. This shopped photo entitled simply "bear" from the Seattlest Flickr Pool. Thanks mraaronmorris!
