Being born about three decades too late early to appreciate Go, Diego, Go LIVE: The Great Jaguar Rescue, a musical based on the TV show of the same name, we sent our two-year-old nephew.
Our Two-Year-Old Nephew Attends Go, Diego, Go LIVE
Elsewhere in the Ist-a-verse
Seattlest watches as a S.L.U.T. is born and Seattle Flickr users go nuts over a local art installation. A restaurant critic demands a Diner's Bill of Rights over a gnat next to her drink, and, in lieu of a Portlandist, Seattlest debates with itself over the identity of the Northwest's crown jewel. Seattlest also joins the guys from Fantagraphics for an ill-fated gun party in the woods.

Londonist are starting to think their city is getting just a little bit too expensive, when even Christian Slater can't afford to go out there. And there's no escaping, as local singer Lily Allen discovered when she was barred entry to the US. The British mapping agency caused further bad karma, by blocking a 3-D representation of London in Google Earth. But the smiles returned to Londonist's faces as they interviewed Baroness von Reichardt, who has completely covered her house in mosaic tiles.
Seattlest Road Trip: Prematurely Missing History
On Monday night we went to the Giants game with a chance to see Barry Bonds break Hank Aaron's home run record. He didn't go yard, choosing to get number 756 the next night--what an ass. However, we did have a front row seat for Nook Logan's 193rd hit, so our grandkids will get to hear all about that.
Happy Birthday Dear GuywhocanshutdownGasWorksParkwithasnapofhisfingers, Happy Birthday to You
Yesterday, when a reader informed Seattlest of an enclosure going up at Gas Works park for a private event, we posted some smart assey thing about the park's recent unfriendliness towards private events. We were aghast that public property could be employed as someone's personal party space, but, you know, not really. We pictured a dog run-like chain link fence enclosure near the back of the park, maybe in that newish area that no one really uses. Someone's having a party--a birthday party, according to our intrepid commenters. Or possibly a wedding... Who cares! Gas Works park is only a couple of blocks away from Seattlest's place of residence, but we couldn't quite muster the indignation to haul ourselves down there last night to check it out.

Before we begin, we'd like to extend our deepest sympathies to the family of James Kim. We are not, by any means, trying to discount that tragedy by juxtaposing posts about the Kims with more light-hearted posts. It's the nature of doing a compilation such as this one: we're trying to give a full slice of the goings-on in the Ist-a-Verse: the good, the bad, and the ugly.
Nuts for Putz, but Please Repairo Pineiro
JJ Putz's two ninth-inning strikeouts of Barry Bonds (one Friday, looking at a splitter, one Sunday, swinging on a fastball) are the twin highlights of the Mariner season so far. Putz has been terrific this season--11 saves in 12 opportunities. Better yet, the numbers are there--he's struck out 46 this season, and walked only 6. That's Sasaki-esque.
Steroids? Beltre "scared of that stuff"
The Times asked Adrian Beltre if he's ever used steroids. While he didn't stare into a camera and point his finger, he did protest much.
Albright Wants All Religions to Hug (Sorry Southern Baptists) Or Madeleine Albright Take 2
Last night Seattlest went to see Madeleine Albright speak at Town Hall, even after our friends ditched us for other reasons. Albright was in Seattle plugging her new book "The Mighty & the Almighty,” in which she examines the role of religion's influence on politics in this crazy messed up world.

Shanghaiist probably knows a little more about China than the Chicago Sun-Times. Giving them the benefit of the doubt on that one. The city does to have a music scene. Don't even front like they don't. They also have Dorito bananas and white guys shopping for wives. What they don't have is any more tolerance for jaywalkers.
