The Bad Juju's move to Neumos never really felt quite right. The space was just too different, too wonky, and the place never really got a chance to be it's own thing, acting instead as a stopoff point between bands. The Bad Juju was already dead, but the owners finally made it official by closing down the joint and renovating the space. Tonight the space formerly known as the Bad Juju Lounge finally reopens as Moe Bar, and it looks like a keeper.

Get Out: Kultur Shock @ Neumo's
The first time we saw Kultur Shock, they were opening for Gogol Bordello at Neumo's, and we have to admit, we'd never heard of them. It was an all-ages show, so we were drinking our fill in the Bad Juju lounge next door, until the insane sounds of the band dragged us away from our beers. Quickly we came to regret missing the first half of their set.
Get Out
Sports: The Sonics are 6-9, on a two game losing streak, and everybody's fighting. The Orlando Magic are 11-4, have won their last four, feature Dwight Howard, and come from some place very warm! What's not to love? Tip-off is right when the next snowstorm is supposed to hit. Worth risking your life for? Yes!
YouTube's Preview of the Junior Boys
In the days before the Internet, there was little way to know whether a concert was going to be a horrible or wonderful experience. Word of mouth moved too slowly between cities, so by the time tales of a bad concert came through it was long after you'd already wasted your money and your time. Those days are over, since YouTube provides almost immediate footage of what's going on in other cities. Below is footage from Tuesday's performance of the Junior Boys at the Troubador in West Hollywood. Junior Boys play a highly anticipated show tonight at Neumos. SunTzu Sound will be doing their thing next door at the Bad Juju for their new weekly called The Get Down.
The Week's Picks...
Another week of Seattlest making all your plans for you. You don’t even have to think! Joy!
Diggin' Dungen
For the second time in a week, Seattlest found ourselves enjoying some live music, even though we didn't have a clue as to what the songs meant. Last Wednesday it was Sigur Ros, and yesterday it was Dungen (pronounced "doon-yun"), a Swedish band that plays what everybody's terming "folkrockpsych" due to its decidedly '70s throwback feel. Hipsters and hippies alike have been drooling over this album for a while now, which the diverse crowd at Neumo's reflected completely. The mostly male audience was full of white belts *and* dreadlocks, as well as a smattering of old dudes and music nerds who just wanted to hear some hardcore jamming. They would not go home disappointed.
Decibel Weekend is Upon Us!
We're a little burned out. Between the music festivals, block parties, and other great shows that have come through town, it's hard to sustain the usual level of enthusiasm. It'd take something big to get us excited, and thankfully the Decibel Festival is here to stoke our musical fires.
