If you've been following Seattlest David's football and cooking series, you'd know that there's hardly anything more unlikely than that he'd be talking about cooking to a regional radio audience.

This fall we are combining our love of the football and our dream of learning to cook. On Sunday morning, following a trip to a local farmer’s market/major supermarket chain, we will be preparing a meal from the city of the Seahawks opponent. Then at halftime we will throw our badly burned hands in the air and make hot dogs.

The P-I has an article today that explores the panic that the North Korean missile tests of 5, July have struck into area hearts. "I don't think Seattle will be a target," David Cahn stuttered in terror. "America has occupied their country for 50 years. America's policy is the provocation for this sort of thing," Ted Roberts told the paper while impaired by fear . "Even if (the missile) could reach the U.S., it would be wildly inaccurate, and lucky to hit the continent," expert Victoria Samson --obviously lying in order to prevent mass riots and chaos in the region-- imparted.

SIFF enters its second full week with a slew of great documentaries, including the final screening of fair trade coffee doc Black Gold (Tuesday, 9:30pm @ the Egyptian). The directors, Marc and Nick Francis, will be in attendance, as will Tadesse Meskela, an Ethiopian Farm Cooperative Organizer featured in the film. The SIFF screenings mark the first time the directors and subject have been together since the making of the film---and the first time Meskela has seen the film on the big screen.

For those of you that still harbor the grudge that science is boring and painfully complex, Seattlest would like to introduce you to the buckyball. Not only is this little sucker given a name that is impossibly irresistable, it is also potentially one of the more important scientific discoveries of the past 20 years (yielding a Nobel prize for its co-discoverers in 1985). Oh fine, back to the name: nature is apparently teeming with close cousins to the buckyball, including buckytubes, buckybabies, and fuzzyballs. Seattlest couldn't make that up if we wanted to.
