Generally after the warm, fuzzy glow of our New Year's hangover wears off, Seattlest is left staring into the abyss of January without much to cling to, except our quickly fading memories of the resolutions we made and the knowledge that tax season is fast approaching. This year we're filing as a newly married, first-time independent contractor who bought a home last year and we're mighty worried. We liked the 1040-EZ we'd grab while dropping......

Seattlest is going to see a show tonight at the Showbox. It's Of Montreal which has been around forever, it seems, but is currently rising to the point that they're selling out the Showbox. It's also The Blow from Portland and Aqueduct from here. Of Montreal is a kind of guitar disco dirty pop thing - We've been listening to Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer? and we can see why tickets are available through......

It'd been awhile since we'd last been to the Tractor Tavern and, well, we found that we'd missed the place -- the faded old cowboy boots hanging from the ceiling, the curious glory-hole in the men's crapper, the huge oil painting of the bright red tractor, and then the other one of the majestic horse with all the lightning in the background. Okay, that one's kind of weird, but it fits somehow with the country......

Admittedly, last night we were not expecting much from The Presets. Seattlest had already spent a great deal of our evening surrounded by dudes in baseball caps and girls who were trying too hard (thanks a lot, Scion), so we really weren't in the mood for a late night set at Chop Suey. We had heard good things about the Australian electro-rock duo and felt obligated to attend. But now we're glad we did:......

This coming Monday 27th, Seattlest will be swilling gin & tonics at our fave music venue, the Showbox, and steeping ourselves in the cleverly multifarious sounds of Toronto band, Metric. Metric have released two albums thus far: 2003’s Old World Underground, Where Are You Now? and 2005’s Live It Out. Seattlest was only recently exposed to them however, and we have to say, it's rare for Seattlest to come across an album, let alone two......
