Dustin and her racing partner Kandice (Dustin's the blonde...with the nice teeth...the one who doesn't kinda sorta resemble Maggie Gyllenhaal) achieved All-Stardom by coming in fourth place last season on Amazing Race 10, and also by being blonde, perky, upbeat, mutually supportive, and lightning rods for bitterness from other teams. They wanted to be the first all-female team to win the race, though surly long-time rivals "Bama" ended up coming a little bit closer.
You know how when you're watching television during a presidential address and you're frantically flipping channels to get away from it, but his face just reappears on the screen every time with a new logo splashed in the corner? Seattlest had that experience while trying to watch the news this morning, except instead of running from the president we were trying to escape American Idol. Did you know that American Idol is having auditions in Seattle this week? Whatever, liar, you totally know.
Cool: Active/inactive holds breakdown. Seattlest noticed that now, in addition to telling you how many people have a library item on hold, the online catalog tells you the total and how many of those are active vs. inactive holds.
As previously alluded to, Seattlest is unabashed in our love for television. We tend to gravitate toward the good stuff, but we are by no means too highbrow to watch reality TV. Case(s) in point: the gloriously addictive trainwrecks known as Surreal Life 5 and Being Bobby Brown. For us, the viewing of such apocalypse-heralding fare is merely a spectator sport; that is to say, we've got no aspirations to be the castmember who actively works to alienate everyone in the house. While Seattlest is certainly not sociopathic enough to vie for a spot on a reality show, we cannot assume the same is true of our readership. For that reason, we feel the need to announce that America's Next Top Model will be holding auditions in Seattle next week.
Seattlest is grumpy. We'd planned to ramble on at length about all kinds of fun and exciting things to do outside this spring, and then, like an unwanted distant relative, our heretofore non-existent winter decided to pay us a surprise visit and make up for some lost time and precipitation. We know, we know, yesterday we were much cheerier about it and suggested you buck up like little campers and ride it out. This morning finds our tune a wee bit more gloomy.
