Devil Ducks by Seattlest Flickr Photographer M.V. Jantzen MyBallard has the exclusive: the beloved Archie McPhee's is leaving Ballard. While normally a sentence with puppies can be nothing but delightful, Lights & Sirens managed to write one that is the absolute opposite: "Parkland man who was mauled by puppies dies."Coyotes are not your cat's friend. Sadly, Capitol Hill Seattle has reported the death of another adored pet by coyotes on the hill to remind us. We......

Pork Pork Pork by our very own scarequotes Like most things we've attempted to borrow from the 70's, modern key parties just don't sound like nearly as much fun. According to the Belltowner, a "lock and key" singles party will be happening at See Sound next week.Capitol Hill Seattle spots a "government money pit."Unsurprisingly, Magnolia and Queen Anne residents aren't too pleased about the idea of a new jail being built smack dab in the......

Seattlest grew up in a tiny town you've never heard of in Central Florida, where a real sandy ocean beach (on which you could drive) was 20 minutes in one direction, and a crystalline gulf beach was an hour and a half in the other. Now that we live in the Land of the Rain, we wait all year for weeks like these, when the sun is high and hot, the breeze is soft and......

Once Leilani Lanes closes, the 32-lane West Seattle Bowl will be Seattle’s biggest bowling alley. Despite its painfully bland exterior, WSB has a cool, architecturally unique interior. A high arched ceiling covers the north lanes, while the south lanes have a typically low, sound-reducing ceiling. We suspect the incongruous overall design......

You know, we love nothing more than a music festival (okay that's a lie, our number one true love is Jupiter Jones of the Three Investigators Series, but we fear that will be unrequited). In order to satisfy our cravings for a music festival, the incredibly nice people at the Northwest Programs for the Arts have organized the Seattle Music Festival at Alki Beach. They have gathered some pretty cool acts including They Might Be......

Seattlest likes a challenge, especially a slightly kooky one, and then if you add a do-gooder element to it we might find it irresistible. But this one is too tough for us. On Saturday, August 13, 250 mighty strong swimmers will set out on the Puget Sound Crossing for Kids in support of Junior Achievement of Washington. They'll swim from Restoration Point on Bainbridge Island to Alki Beach. That's three-and-a-half miles, folks. In water......

West Seattle is just days away from the springtime resurrection of it's lifeline to the downtown waterfront: the water taxi. Beginning May, 1, Three dollars will get you across Elliot Bay aboard the Argosy Sightseer. Strangely, it will only cost you $1 if you can also come up with a valid Metro transfer, so you penny-pinchers can save yourselves $0.50 by going that route. The Sightseer will leave from pier 55 every hour on the......
