The 2009 Seattle Air Guitar Championships: the spandex was ferocious, the fringe mesmerizing, and the audience filled with royal assholes. Unfortunately it fell to us to bust his air bubble. He lacked the fringe and ultimate "airness" which led us to give Cyclops the single low-blow score of 5.9 and gave Dick Courage the title of 2009 Seattle Air Guitar Champion.

• Tonight we expect it to be all-out airness in Eastlake at El Corazon for the Seattle Regional Air Guitar Championships. We also hear one of the judges has a thing for the keytar.
• A homemade float plane (who does that?) had a splash landing this morning into Lake Sammamish. Its pilot, an 82-year-old Redmond man, was left unscathed.

GET A HAIRCUT, GET A REAL JOB: If you're among the throngs getting laid off thanks to this booming economy we're having, try skipping the liquid breakfast today. Roll out of bed early and get on down to Seattle Center with a stack of resumes. The Northwest Career Fair kicks off this morning at 11 and, with any luck, there should be at least something for which you're qualified. They're hiring for just about everything—from deli clerks to tech editors, forklift operators, bankers, PR people, line cooks...the list goes on.
