Yesterday, Meg Paulsen sued two of the groups that own restaurants down on the waterfront for their failure to provide adequate wheelchair access to their facilities. The three restaurants she named in her lawsuit were the Crab Pot, the Salmon Cooker, and Steamer's Seafood Cafe; Paulsen claims all three buildings violate the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA)'s stipulations. The P-I got one of the restaurant group owners, Hal Griffeth, to comment; Griffeth blamed the age of the buildings and expressed his regret that "this person" didn't complain to the restaurants directly. We're sure it sucks to have to renovate an old building to bring it up to code, but it sucks even more to have to navigate life in a wheelchair when your desired dinner locations aren't reliably wheelchair-friendly.
