First Annual 12th Avenue Neighborhood Festival Launches Sunday

While The Stranger may have declared the painful death of the Pike/Pine 'hood back in 2006 article, current residents (and their neighbors along 12th Avenue) have made it clear things are just getting started in this corner of the city. In fact, the 12th Avenue corridor is throwing a brand new block party. The first annual 12th Avenue Neighborhood Festival kicks off at noon this Sunday, and for six hours will take over 12th Avenue from Pike to Madison with live music and booths from the local retailers and restaurants. more ›

One thing the loop does is remove the need for decision about 12th or Broadway, which, it being Seattle, could keep us at the consensus table for the next quarter of a century. Semi Stuck in Tree on East Aloha

We heard from CHS that a truck had hit a power line at 12th Avenue and East Aloha, so we just ran up to check. It's a semi that has broken off a huge tree branch, which in turn snagged a power line. So now the semi, branch, and downed line are waiting for a Seattle City Light crew to arrive and untangle them. In the meantime, East Aloha is closed to traffic between 12th and 13th. We suspect it'll be closed at least an hour or two, given the ticklishness of the situation. more ›

Crave Is Closed

Yesterday, 12th Avenue institution Crave served its last omelet and delicious mac & cheese with shitake mushrooms, offering one final breakfast and lunch service before closing its doors for at least the foreseeable future. Last week, unbeknownst to us, this Seattlest was the last table ever served dinner at Crave. The meal and service was delightful, as we have always found Crave to be. Sure, it was never super speedy service, but what was served was done with care and consideration, and in a uniquely Seattle way. more ›
